Default Cabrilet top rattle

I have driven two nearly new 991 Cabriolets and they all had a rattle or two in the top. Were these abnormal examples? I would love a new Cab but an concerned about the build quality of the top. My 2015 Boxster 981 is really tight.

I have a 991 GTS cab - no rattling at all. Incredibly quiet, even at high speeds.

Good news, thanks. I suspected no one followed up in warranty if there were noises. My Boxster needed a new headliner to repair some noises and a loose cloth fitting. Dealer says Porsche claims this is a first. Who knows? The replacement fixed the problem. Looking at a new 991.2 Cabriolet for German delivery.

Rattle was my concern too. I think you should expect some squeaks here and there, but even for me who is quite **** about it, it's tolerable. The amount of squeaks is also dependent on temperature or climate change, and my dealer had fixed some abnormal rattle twice, all under warranty. The other thing that's not avoidable is developing creases over time, but again, with proper maintenance it's less of a problem. In the end though, the 911 top is one of the best, and driving a 911 top down is just an amazing experience. You'll get so much joy out if it, it'll be worth those small sacrifices. No regrets here.

Make sure you get PSE ..

The type of roads you drive on can affect top shake and rattle. I drove a C2 coupe for a day or so over the miserable roads in my city and by the end of the second day it had developed a nasty squeak/creak from somewhere in the rear area. I'm sure the cabriolet would fare worse. As good as the top is, it will never be as solid a drive nor as quiet as a coupe. Because squeaks and rattles bother me, I'd opt for a coupe. If you really like the open air experience, you get it with the cab, but I think you can expect that you'll be chasing some noises if you drive on poor roads.
