Default 997.2 TT cab vs 991.2 Targa 4S

I currently own a 997.2 TT cab (pdk). I have wanted a Targa since they were introduced on the 991. The 991.1 is nice but didn't do it for me (including the gts). Too much of a gap with my TT. I recently test drove a 991.2 4S and was surprised at how fast it was, how much low end torque it had. I liked the way it drove. Like the updated interior. And I like the targa over the cab (both looks and functionality). So now I am considering trading in my TT for a targa 4S. Am I crazy?

The specs on the TT are 500 hp, 480 lb ft, and 0-60 in 3.4. The targa 4S is 420, 370, 3.8. It didn't feel to me like the TT had 100 more lb ft of torque. But it's hard to tell on a 15 minute test drive. I love the acceleration of the TT and how it pushes you back in your seat. I don't want to not have that but I feel like the 991.2 S comes close enough and if so I would make the trade. But that's based on a 15 minute test drive. Does anyone have experience with both and can compare? Is the gap negligible or is it meaningful and I will regret it? Thanks.

You will not regret it and if you need more convincing then test drive it some more! Also since they are all turbos now the aftermarket tuners already have performance tunes that will most definitely get you real close to 500HP and I bet faster than your current turbo. There would be no downside if it were me and the Targa is the best looking Porsche they make!

Why not wait for the Targa 991.2 GTS. Should get a 20bhp bump in power, brining it closer to your 997.2. The targa looks seriously cool.

I thought about that and may do. But not sure how long of a wait that is and at least in the spy photos, the targa gts roof bar is black. I don't like it, love it in silver. I'd give up the 20hp for the silver (the 991.1 gts didn't have a torque bump I don't believe, which is what I care more about). Other than the hp bump, I can get most gts options on a 4S.

For what it's worth the 991.2 GTS will have a 30HP bump to 450HP, since it a turbo now the torque bump should actually increase quite a bit versus the NA engines from previous years.
