This is absolutely not true. Dealers take cars in trade and send them straight to auction all the time. Many times it's because the car doesn't fit their clientele or, for a Porsche dealer, they may already have too many of that model in inventory. Also, if they took the trade in cheap and can flip it for a quick auction profit without having to carry it in inventory, they'll do that. Whether a car has been through auction or not tells you nothing about the quality of the car.

The fact a Porsche dealer is pushing it is a +. As is the fact you've got a lot of warranty time left. However, as a used car purchase, you probably lose any claim to lemon status should the thing run you into that condition.

15% off MSRP on a used, base, 911.2 is understandable, given that, virtually, the entire Porsche universe longs for an S. This might possibly be the reason the car ended up at auction.

Are you aware whether or not the auction it came from was an exclusive Porsche dealer only auction?
"S" cars were created to carry extra options more comfortably, otherwise a "Base" with few options is a much lighter and more nimble driving experience for less money and gas .

The car is about 15% off sticker without CPO
6-7%, or sometimes even 8% isn't too difficult to get on a brand new 2017 from a dealer, so make damn sure it's a perfect car before you even consider an auctioned/used/warranty-punched car for the comparatively small additional savings.

Beautiful car, and zero worries as to why a car was at an auction!

Killer car, great choice! The last of NAs as well. I have a 4S that is my DD, great combo of comfort, fun and all weather versatility. Sir, you made a wise choice snagging such a stunning car. Enjoy.

Very well said. I couldn't agree more. The bottom line; do your due diligence, no matter where you purchase your car.
