Default Black headlight rings DIY mod

I personally love the look of the black headlights the GTS comes with, but the price to replace the headlights are astronomical. I also looked around and found that techart has fiberglass rings that you can paint, however the ring seems to be a bit too thick and costly.

So I thought what about plastic dip. well I ended up taping the headlights where the grey part meets the black with electrical tape (easier to bend)

before grey

i masked off the rest of the headlight. i sprayed it with plastic dip and removed the tape before it drys. voila! a clear cut line.
after black

this mod cost me $12 in material and about 1 hour of my time. i think my car looks way better than before. This is an easy mod that anyone can do.

Before

after

That looks great! The nice thing about plasti-dip, is that it can be removed without a trace, if you don't like the results.

Looks great! Good job. The other nice thing about using 'dip is that if you put it on thick enough, it acts as a protective film so you don't get chips, scratches and stuff on that part of the lens.... Love it.

I love your techart pieces. Do you have issues with scraping?

thanks. my car is lowered on techart sprimgs as well its scrapes at steep driveways, but i have learned to detect those areas that may scrape and if you approach slowly at an angle it wont scrape. I had a 2008 c6 ZO6 with the sport lip and that car was way lower than my 991, so its been actually easier.
