Default would you replace both tires?

coming back form my annual service last Friday, about a block away from my home, I drove over an old craft knife blade that I believe my neighbors workmen discarded in the road (they are working on his home).

My passenger rear deflated almost instantly, and upon inspection at the tire replacement shop I decided to replace and not patch the tire.

Now Porsche recommend replacing in pairs if there is more than 30% wear on the tires, at 4k miles, I feel I'm ok, but I thought I'd ask the forum for its opinion, replace both rears or keep the drivers side?

Assuming your measurable wear is pretty light at 4K miles (only you can tell us that)....I would be inclined to just replace the one.

That's 50% wear on a rear tire on my 911s. Stop being a cheap bastard.

I thought being a cheap bastard would have been patching the one with the 1" cut through it!

5-6mm of tread depth left of the rear... I think I'm good, I just need to scrub in the new rubber ...

I once put 11 plugs in a 5" sidewalk rip in a 35" tire on my Jeep on the backside of Moab Utah. Don't be such a sissy.

I'll have too... donuts in the parking lot ...

tirerack claims the tread depth on the PZeros is 10/32" or 7.9mm, since my remaining good tire is at 6mm, I'm going to go with only changing one, since
the wear is less than 30% of total... if it totally sucks ... I'll go get another $400 tire ... I should have got the new one heat cycled and shaved!

Replace just the one.

Get the other tire plugged and patched. Great emergency spare.

Worst case, you could always order a shaved tire from the Tire Rack to match the other, but still unnecessary.

4K miles, unless those are 4K burn out miles, I would only replaced one.

Quick Reply: would you replace both tires?
