Targa question

Targa question
Ok - I have an order in on a 718 base. But WHO KNOWS when that's coming in. And I'm in Cleveland and I started to talk to my dealer today about a 991.2 and the need for 4 wheel drive, which brought me (naturally) to the most beautiful 911, the targa. Which will bankrupt me without question . . . But still, here's my question:
How "good" is the current roof mechanism on this car? I ask because when it comes to rattles, I'm more than just a little bit OCD. So much so that an intractable rattle will RUIN a $110k car for me, full stop! If I spend that kind of $$$ on a car and it rattles badly I will curse and spit and vent my spleen every time I'm in it.

The 991.1 gen cars did have some rattle issues but like a convertible I would expect some rattle.
"To update, for future searchers:
The root cause was twofold:
1. A plastic channel for one of the trim clips that was loose in the Alcantera headliner.
2. One corner of the headliner which, when clipped, still resonated and rattled when tapped. Dealer fixed with padding."

I guess that's me as I got mine CPO a year ago I love the CPO program. Longer warranty than stock, let someone else eat a chunk of depreciation.
And usually they are in very good barely-used condition.

God forgive me - but if the gentleman wants a new targa without options to stay within a budget - leave him alone. His money. He knows what he can / cannot afford and is making his decision accordingly.
Just my 2 cents.

I have a 991.1 Targa 4S and in certain situations there is a slight rattle/creak in the roof. If you're cruising on a smooth road I don't hear a sound but on a bumpy road where the body gets a little flex, you get some noise from the roof. Not enough to bother me and I just open the top if it's too bad but you need to drive the car on several conditions to judge for yourself. I don't see anyway around the noise especially if you drive the car the way it was meant to be driven. Spirited driving in the twisties will flex the body slightly and you get the noise from the roof; it's made worse on a rough road.
But as I said, most of the time I'm driving on smooth roads and I barely hear anything. If you lived closer I'd let you drive mine to hear for yourself but see if you can find someone with one and hear for yourself. They are fantastic cars.
Good luck finding one for $110K. I couldn't even come close. Unless you're looking at the used market that's going to be tough.

@Bradley Scott - no one is telling the OP what to do - but since this is a forum with many members who possess a wealth of knowledge on these cars ... I feel like it is important to at least let the OP know that CPO is a good way to go (obviously not the ONLY way to go). You're absolutely right ... it's his money so he may decide to get a brand new car with zero options .... but we like to help people here!
The CPO program is EXTREMELY compelling ... you get an awesome warranty and a loaded up car while the first owner eats the early depreciation.

Now if I could only get it back from the shop but that's a different story.

I was the second owner on my CPO Targa. 114k with 13.5k miles last August. I'm now up to 30k. I love the car, hate the top rattle.
Even so I may keep this car full term for once.
