RIP '15 GTS :'( ... Hello '16 GTS
Hi guys,
I don't post much on here but thought I would share. Few weeks back was driving my Carmine Red '15 GTS and got t-boned Nobody was hurt, the airbags didn't even go off and it didn't seem like much damage at first but that quickly ballooned to 80k+ when they took it apart so insurance totaled it. Before and after pics:
Was fortunate to find a new Agate Grey '16 4 GTS and pulled the trigger on it. Initial thoughts are that the 4 drives very similar to the RWD model. Steering feels as direct and precise. In a way, I actually prefer the AWD, as the weight increase is negligible and it pretty much biases to RWD 90% of the time unless it actually needs to use all 4 wheels. I did test drive a '17 C2S and while it's a great car, it felt much more tame than the 991.1 and I realized I'm not ready for turbo engines just yet...

I'm shocked that the side impact shown resulted in $80,000 worth of damage. I can only assume that the unibody frame was bent significantly an the complete back end had to come apart to get things corrected?

OMG, sorry about the T bone. Thank God it was not worse. Well at least the replacement is grand. Beautiful car. All hail the GTS!

Sorry to hear about your '15 GTS but I am glad to hear that you were able to find a suitable replacement. I would have done the same thing with the replacement - I'll take an NA 911 over a turbocharged one any day.

You are very lucky on both accounts. 1. no injuries from your accident, and 2. that you were able to find a replacement.
BTW I think you need to add a few more words to the back of the new one.

Sorry to hear about your accident but very happy to see you enjoying your new GTS! If i were in your situation, i would do the same thing (try to find a new 991.1 GTS).

But, it looks so minor... I would not have guessed $80k based on the photos alone.
Sit still. A .2er will be along in just a moment to explain to you how wrong you are.

Surprisingly it doesn't look that bad. The Porsche gods are angry as hell. A rwd m/T would have caused a travesty like black lives matter. Glad u were able to find a good substitute in short time as the n/a is the car to own.

if you go take a look at the PET katalog for the 991 in the section for the body panels (801-50, 801-55) you can see why it might have been written off, the "whole" quarter panel including part of the roof section would have to be R&R'ed along with several other body sections, that's a LOT of cutting, welding and painting etc ... and who would want that back afterwards?
shame as it was a CR car, of which there were relatively few to start with, glad no one was hurt and that you found (an albeit 'brown') GTS replacement!
