Default 991.1 GTS Center tail light modification?

I am wondering if any fellow RL'ers have considered/performed a modification of the rear of the GTS from the black grille to the center tail light? Is it possible to do this? I am not sure if the non-4 GTS has the appropriate wiring to accommodate a center tail light. I have included pics of my car, of a car with the red center tail light (I would get clear to match my rear), and of the kit available at Suncoast. Thanks for any input you can provide!

Thought about it but wasn't going to trail blaze.

I spoke with the service department at Porsche downtown LA. The modification is doable. I was going to attempt to DIY but apparently, the rear bumper has to be removed in order to get the grill out and to replace it with the center light strip. I am waiting on a final quote but it sounds like it would be $420 for the installation plus the parts (which at Suncoast is $650 for both the tail lights and the center light). -http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKU991CLEAR.html - I do not think that you can buy just the center light (the service department is going to look into it for me). Worst case scenario, I have two spare rear tail lights which I can keep as spares or try to sell. I will keep you all posted as I get more information, I will post before and after pictures once the modification is complete and I will try to get as much information as possible from the service team so I can perhaps educate those braver than I on how to make this a DIY modification.

Removing the rear bumper is very doable. There are plenty here who have done it and can provide tips. There are YouTube videos too.

I am interested in this but need a red center light. Anyone know where to purchase that? Directly from my Porsche dealer?

I do not see the red center tail light listed on Suncoast's website. I am sure Porsche must have a way of buying one for you and/or it may be worthwhile to see if Suncoast can track one down for you.

I am sure I have seen a c2gts for sale just in the last weeks that had been modified to have the red stripe. I don't recall whether the seller claimed it is functional.

looks like the p/n's are:

991.631.460.02

or

991.631.989.00

but I am not 100% certain these are 'correct' but they are labelled as specific to 4/4S
