I am finally becoming tired of hearing about the 911R- what an amazing wonderful car it is, and how I can't have oneI've long maintained that this is what a modern generation 911 should be, and it should be available to all Porsche enthusiasts. I'm sure P is well aware of these rants. I wonder if they care.

Agreed. Plus I believe Porsche could make a "poor man's" version in larger numbers without the exotic metals that they could sell and make lots of money.

For years I played the game of competing for buying some of the limited-production/artificially scarce Porsches like GT3/RS and GT2 -- and ending up paying a premium in some cases. The absurd game Porsche is playing with its most desirable car in decades, the 991R, has made me realize that I'm sick and tired of playing the game. I'm mad as hell and won't do it anymore.

This is complete nonsense. The original statement (Porsche 911 R ‘selling for close to £1 million’) comes from a self declared super car finance expert – someone who benefits from exploding prices.

Of course, a few R-owners will try to sell their cars to a super rich moron for 918 money, but advertised prices are not the same as scored prices (is this the correct term?). As long as there is no proof for this price explosion, it is nothing but speculation.

German car magazines state that the GT3.2 will be available with 4.0 l/500 hp, 6-speed manual and no rear wing. Let's see what happens then...

991 GT3.2 will be the "poor man's" version if you can call it that. 911R's are supposedly trading for $250k over or so. No one is paying a mil for one of those.

That 'source' is total bull****. They're trading about $250k over sticker. Shocked R&T would print such nonsense.

This is the biggest reason I've walked away from Porsche. Anyone should be able to order any car they make not just a select few.
