Beautiful car. Is it the standard white or Carrera White Metallic?

Thanks! It is the standard white. Just over 14,000 miles when we purchased it.

Very sharp looking -- fantastic with the white. I checked out the white versus the metallic white at the dealer, and they look similar, even parked next to each other. I went with the metallic mainly because it was a no cost option on the Turbo. Enjoy.

I bought the LED side markers from Suncoast and am very happy with the decision. I think it as worth the extra money. Here's a picture of them on my Carrara White 2012.5 C2S

I didn't put on the LED lights....just the clear side markers. Here they are at suncoast for $65: http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/PKCLEAR991.html

My dealer sold them to me for $55.

OP I agree with your review. Love my base but to be honest, I would prefer white over black and PDK over the MT. But no way would I give up my PSE. Enjoy your car for many years/miles

Like everyone else suggested put a set of MPSS tires on and it will drive and handle like a different car. P zeros are the worst.

The dealer I purchased the CPO 991.1 from did not put new tires on it, and inflated the P0s to 39 front and 45 rear, the car rode harsh and noisy. I replaced the POs with 4 MPSS tires about 3 moths ago, the Michellins are much quieter at local speed, however, still a bit noisy on freeway. With the new tires I inflated them to 31 front, 34 rear---comfort setting---and the 911 now rides so much better. I have not driven the car in the rain, but on dry road the handling limit of the car is so high that I could not tell much difference in handling between the MPSS and PO.

I learned about the Porsche recommended comfort setting tire pressure from this forum, I would probably never knew about it otherwise. I am surprised that Porsche and the Porsche dealers do not use the comfort setting as standard.

Default Engine hesitation

Nice write up. I have a 2013 4s with PDK. Curious to know if your engine hesitation occurred only with hard acceleration from standstill? When I hit the throttle all the way from standstill, the car revs but doesn't move until about 3 to 4,000 rpm which takes about 1 to 2 seconds. Incredibly disappointing. Was this the issue you had and resolved with software corrections? Thanks

Always wanted a 911, but never did own one. My wife and I started looking for a new car last year, and we wanted to look into a used 991. I had some doubt after the first test drive, the base 991 was not as fast as I imagined, in fact, it felt slower in the test route---street traffic---than our Audi S4, and considerably firmer and less comfortable. However, the car was fun to drive, the classic yet modern shape and the feel of quality just surpassed any car we owned before, and it was priced at the cost of a new well equipped 5 series bimmer, it seemed to be a no-brainer and we decided to get one. Not reading a lot of rennlist at the time, we looked around and decided on a white base model without any performance add on like sport chrono or PSE, and it was a PDK. Here are some thoughts after 6 months of ownership:

Pro:
1. love the NA engine; after knowing the engine's characteristic, it is so much fun to rev the engine, keep it in its power range, feel the acceleration and hear the glorious sound. And the throttle response is so smooth that it is a pleasure to drive. I used to have a BMW 535i with twin turbo engine, although it felt fast, but I hated the engine's response, it was either too much or too little throttle and difficult to drive smooth. I certainly hope the new turbo engine in the 991.2 retains the NA engine feel. Anyway, I am quite content with the base 991.1 engine and it is fast enough for me.
2. love the base suspension; I was a bit unease about doing fast corner at first because of the rear engine layout, but the limit was so high that I have yet got close to it, and I am going faster and faster with confidence. Also, after replacing tires to the new Michelin Pilot, and adjusting the tire pressure to the comfort setting, I felt the car rides firm but not uncomfortable, and the drive feel just surpassed any of our previous cars.
3. PDK is great; It shifts so quick and smoothly, and when driven aggressively in auto mode, it alway seems to be in the right gear, amazing!
4. the seats felt very comfortable and supportive, there is no compromise in driving position, and the all around view to outside is great. There is very little negatives that would normally accompany most other sport cars. Even the frunk is big enough for most occasions.
5. Bose stereo is better than expected, based on the impression I got online initially;
6. surprisingly good fuel economy.

Con:

1. tire and road noise; I was surprised at the level of tire noise and the sound I heard from stone hitting the fender or chassis while driving. I know engine/exhaust sound is an important part of a 911, but I am not sure if the road noise needs to be part of 911's appeal.
2. some rattling noise from interior parts; I heard quite a few of them. A rattling noise from a loose mirror switch was replaced under warranty, but the dealer was not able to fix some noise from the rear side of the car. Somehow after 6 month, maybe with leather conditioner and silicone spray on rear seat tilt mechanical parts, I eliminated most noise, and the car felt much tighter than we first brought it.
3. I experienced strong engine hesitation during acceleration about two months into ownership, fortunately there was a fault code and my local dealer replaced a high pressure fuel pump and solved the problem. So it is no longer a concern.

Overall, I could not be more happy with our choice. The only thing I might have done differently if I knew what I know now is that to go for a S model so I do not wonder about if it would be better.

OP - congrats, great car and review. I more or less share your observations about the motor, handling, rattles, and pesky road noise. In our case I flip the PSE ON and enjoy the exhaust note which takes care of the road noise.

MPSS seem to be held in high regard. Too bad we are stuck with the stock Pzeros and at an estimated 4-5K per year, i wonder how much longer i'll have to endure those. Or do I take the car to the track and solve the problem with needing new rubber?

The hesitation people talk about is slow revving in a certain part of the powerband. If you're car isn't moving at all while the engine revs, your PDK is totally messed up and you should take it in.

Same for me. I noticed the high tire pressures and was shocked. Just seems so bizarre for Porsche to sell us expensive sports cars with ridiculous tire pressures. P Zeros were OK at comfort pressures although very noisy on certain pavements.

The hesitation I experienced was throught out the rev range, and the engine had problem revving beyond 3500rpm. It was obvious that something was wrong, and the dealer quickly decided it was the high pressure fuel pump. After replacing it, the car has been running fine.

Nice car. As to road noise, I test drove a 2015 C2 and then a 2017 C4S with SPASM. The new car rides considerably better than the 991.1 and has lower interior road noise (tire roar). Didn't notice any noise from sand hitting the inner wheel wells but that might just have been the road. I don't have a lot of tolerance for a rough ride/road roar and was analyzing the differences carefully. Most probably wouldn't complain about the 991.1 but I found the 991.2 much better riding (the 2015 didn't have PASM) and less tire roar. That is what I am ordering.
