Turns out the Cresetter II that I bought on eBay worked this morning. I did update the software on their website first. No more oil service light!

Launch appears to be in SoCal and website says they sell at national auto supply stores. Would rather avoid eBay/china. Going to look into.

What's the difference between the Cresseter I and II? See both for sale, the II about $15 more. Seems like the thread started with the I, which then went out of stock. Now it's back.

Its a flippin shame Porsche forces us into this. Bet they could sell an OE approved one for $500 and it would sell like hot cakes. And those who want the dealer to do the work would still pay. Very annoying.

I used this one. $160.00 from Amazon Prime and was very simple.

Another Cresetter II customer, reset my intermediate maintenance light. I bought it through amazon in case I had issues.

Did you get the "Standard" or "Bundle" from that Amazon link? Does anyone know the difference?

To be honest, when I bought it last year, there was no such thing as Standard or Bundle. Have no idea what the difference is between the two, except price, because if you read the description, they seem identical. I paid around $185 for it, so I guess I got the bundle (?) which comprises of the unit and OBD cable.

I bought this one too and used it last night. Worked fine although the update instructions make no sense, so you basically have to work your way through it logically. The update worked in the end and the device worked perfectly to reset the service light.

I think the bundle adds microfiber towels. Really. I got the non-bundle and it included everything I needed to reset the oil light. It comes with a reasonable zip up carrying case, cables, etc. The only negative I found is that the software update for the unit itself requires windows 7. I need to find someone with a windows 7 PC.

The Creader 7S will reset the service light

. This is the model that replaced the Launch x-431. I bought mine on ebay and it works perfectly on my 997.2 and on my friends 991.

Thanks! I ordered the basic kit and it had everything I needed to reset the service reminder for my 4 year service which I recently performed. Very easy to do!

Could you do a more thorough review of this product? i.e., the process of actually resetting the service light and maintenance intervals? Dos it do both?

This looks appealing because if it works (amazon reviews are a mixed bag) I can use it to reset the service light and maintenance interval on my Porsche AND my wife's BMW...if it works. thanks

Just to confirm, what "launch" products work on the 997.2s? I ask because apparently the original Cresetter does not work with Porsche brand. Porsche is not listed when you scroll down through the menu.

I found out after I bought it on eBay. Does the Creader 7s work well as stated above?
