Default 17 things I think I think

I have nearly 1000 miles on my 991.2 C4, the majority during European delivery two months ago. I took delivery here last week. Previously, I drove a 997.1 C4 and a 996 C2.

1. European Delivery, at least once in your life, is a must for anyone who considers him/herself an enthusiast.
2. GT Silver is even better than I anticipated. Common is not synonymous for boring.
3. I like the contrast between the silver exterior and the black rear deck cover and the black sunroof in glass.
4. I wish that I had the guts to order a red interior.
5. The silver strip on the door that comes with the extended leather interior makes the difference between a mundane interior and a nice one. Wish my wife didn't veto the silver seat belts.
6. I love the idea of the high tech PCM more than I like using it.
7. I understand the necessity of perforated leather for ventilated seats, but otherwise I prefer the more solid leather from my 997.
8. The sport mirrors are a subtle change that makes a disproportionate improvement in the appearance of the car
9. Wish I did the painted side skirts
10. The standard 19" wheels look much better than I expected
11. I don't have S envy, but all things being equal, I'd rather have the 50hp.
12. I love the low end torque, but miss the high end snarl.
13. The 991 is less "tossable" than the 997. It's too big.
14. Wish the PSE made more noise during acceleration and less noise during deceleration. Too artificial. That said, I still love driving through tunnels and between rows of large buildings in downtown Chicago
15. My wife's Macan is the reason I skipped PDK in my 991. It a great transmission for an SUV (or a track car/simulator)
16. I'm sure that the additional handing options are noticeable and beneficial to the ultra performance aficionados who track their car, etc. I'm also sure that there is a contingent that can't tell the difference, but buys the options anyways. For the rest of us ordinary owners/drivers, the absence of these options is a non-issue. The car is outstanding without them.
17. I'm ok with the center location of the PSE tips. They are balanced by the black ducts along the periphery of the bumper.

Perfect review. I am getting the red/black interior on the base with GT silver. Also doing ED for the second time. (i'm addicted).

Can you comment on your thoughts on acceleration for the C4 relative to your previous 911s? Is it a disappointment? Does it do it for you?

I can't see myself paying $14k for a 50 more hp with the same displacement engine.

Hehe horsepower is like money, fresh powder snow, or ***** size. Even if you have too much already and having more would make things worse, you still wouldn't turn it down.

i drove 993, 997 then 991 back to back to back ...

993 - cozy and intimate
997 - just right sized... comfortable yet nimble
991 - wider longer platform is ultra stable and capable on track, but otherwise just too damn big, its the limo carrera everyday

No, it's not a disappointment at all. It is a far superior car to my 997, but I'm trying to be truthful about my likes and dislikes. There's no such thing as a perfect car, a perfect job or a perfect anything else. Small quibbles about an overall outstanding automobile. Fortunate to have these "problems"

I believe you're thinking of a Panamera.

I know what he means. When I drove the 997, I felt like I was wearing it. In and out of tight spaces, gaps in traffic, whatever. Not the same in the 991. Far bigger presence. I was driving behind a 928 a couple of weeks ago and proceeded to look up its specs. The 991 is nearly as big as the 928 to give you an idea about how much the 911 has grown over the years.
