After a long highway run and parking the car you hear all these pinging noises coming from the engine. And then the fans come on at will when required. This happens with most older Porsches as well but I wonder why not with other cars??

It happens with all my cars if I drive them hard.

This happens with both my BMW and Merc after driving them hard (which I typically do....)

My M3 used to do this all the time, lots of pings and the fans going after a spirited or long drive. Was louder than what I have experienced in my 991 GTS.

911 has more of that oil smell after a good drive than the M3 had.

I don't think all cars driven hard will do that. I have honestly never heard my Model S ping.

My GTS pings away like there's a competitive ping pong ball championship going under the hood being played by two Chinese men with steel racquets & tap dancing shoes.
