Who Leases a Winter Beater?
I recently took the plunge and sold my BMW M235xi and 01 996 C4 Cabriolet, replacing with a 991 C2S. Very, very pleased. Can't believe what I've been missing.
That said, my original plan was going to be to make the 991 my DD. I live in Cleveland, OH so weather can suck. I travel for a living and work from home office when I'm not on the road, so don't have to drive if I don't need to. After a self reality check that I wouldn't want to expose my 991 to the crappy winter elements (salt, sludge, etc), I have decided to pick up a super cheap lease for a beater car. Not that the 991 couldn't handle being an all year DD (I know people swear by it), I just can't bring myself to putting the car through it.
So, who out there does the same thing? What do you have and what kind of deals are you seeing out there? I am looking for something around $100 a month...currently leaning towards a base Jetta. Looking for any and all ideas before I commit to the base Jetta option.

You're pretty much stuck with either a Jetta, Versa, Sentra, or Fiat 500 at that price point. Not much else out there for super cheap lease. This IS the weekend to pull the trigger, however (Memorial Day Sales Incentives/Lease Deals aplenty...)

I lease a VW 2016 beetle for $200 sign and drive.

I take that back...looks like FCA killed their $99 lease deal on the Fiat 500...

Definitely looks like a lot of Memorial Day lease deals. Are the deals comparable for Labor Day? Ideally I'd wait until September/October time frame since the weather won't turn until then. But if the best lease deals are going on now perhaps I jump early.

I'm curious - when is the best time of year for lease deals?

C4 or 4S w/ 4 Michelin alpine winter tires and you'd be good to go ...
My philosophy here in the great white north has been to enjoy the cars year round and have done do for the past 15 yrs.
They handle amazing in snowy or icy conditions.

I've driven Corvettes, M3s and now a 911 year round, regardless of the weather. Not only can the car handle it, but I don't have to suffer in a lesser vehicle for a significant portion of the year.

I leased a Honda CRV for 179/mo. It's my winter car so I can leave my E550 Cabriolet in the garage when it snows. It also saves our Cayenne from crowded parking lots, airport lots and NY City street parking. Occasionally I need to put some crap miles on for work, and would rather show up to my clients in a CRV than a Mercedes/Porsche. The kids use it, (already in a minor crash and repaired) and it goes great in snow and runs on regular gas. Goes back next year and I'm going to lease the next victim.

This will vary by state, but my neighbor got a cheap EV on a lease for about that price. As a bonus, he saves a bundle on fuel costs since plugging it in is a lot cheaper than filling a car up with gas. Basically the state and federal EV incentives acted as a huge down payment, and that doesn't leave much to depreciate or tax.

Not gonna lie, the idea of an inconspicuous EV that I can rag on is kind of tempting...
