991.1 vs 991.2 non performance difference?
Hello
I'm debating between a new Cayman S or a used 991 Carrera or Carrera S and I think I'm leaning more and more for the 991. Now, I'm starting to learn how the naming goes, like 991 is the chasis/ model year and now I just learned there is a .1 and .2 version.
So what are the difference between them? I know it's performance but anything on the design or interior? I looked at 991.1 videos and I just love how the car looks, exterior and interior.

Largest difference is basically. Normally aspirated vs turbo charged. .1 to .2. The debate carries on at which is better. Porsche usually builds a better car with every generation but always leaves a sweetener behind aka 991.1 gts.

Burning Brakes
Also minor changes to the body. Some hate it some love it.
Ridges in hood
Slightly different front facia
Different door handles
Radiator slats open and close
Tail lights are different
Turbo vents in rear quarter panels
Carrera Sport wheels are slightly different
PASM is standard on base
+20 HP
Im told standard brakes have been upgraded
Can get GT Sport steering wheel
Buttons for sport and sport+ moved from center console to small **** on wheel
Steering wheel is different paddles on PDK are smaller .2 has Apple based OS for the PCM.
Off the top of my head.

Regardless of the differences, if you're going with a used 991, you probably won't have a choice between the .1 and .2. The .2 was just released in the US, so I doubt you'll find many used ones.

Three Wheelin'
Well, once you get past looking at all the numbers, you ought to drive each model you are interested in, assessing not only the mechanical aspects but how comfortable each is. So, now you have technical and subjective data that may make your decision even more angst-ridden. In the end, the best advice I think I ever got was the "look back" test. Say you have three models that you like for different reasons (and they could all be 991s versions with assorted options, etc.) - and maybe even your reasons are not that different. Now, sit in each car, get out and walk 10 or 20 feet away and look back at it. You'll have an emotional response for each (that only you can measure) and the one that is the most intense, well, that would be the car that justifies its cost.
Best of luck and enjoy the purchasing ride!

Seriously, Midnight Narwhal, the 991 is a fantastic car and there are plenty of used ones out there in countless configurations. I've owned seven 911s since 1987 (in addition to a whole bunch of Alfas, Audis, Volvos, MBs, and BMWs), and my 991 is by far the best car I've ever owned. Good luck with your search.

The N/A Flat 3.8 screaming sound at 7k RPM is hard to replicate, one reason why I bought a 911. Try to find a GTS if budget allows, an N/A GTS will be very rare. If you are in it for the long run, it should hold its value very well.
