Any Porsche dealers and service manager in SoCal that is knowledgeable with the 991.2 steering wheel upgrade, or is mod friendly?
i called a couple of Porsche dealers, all do not know about the possibility of upgrading 991.1 to 991.2 steering wheel. They also said I have to get the parts from them in order to do any install. Perhaps I'm not talking to the right people. Any SoCal good dealer recommendations would be appreciated!

Oh that photo is absolutely genuine. I saw that wheel in the Porsche Exclusive studio inside their US Headquarters building.

However I have also seen this type of wheel on special order cars at my dealer.

Looks great either way, thanks for sharing.

As you can see it can be easily done....it is a direct swap out and easily done by any dealership. Just tell the service manager to follow the same procedure for conversion of a non sport design wheel car to a sport design wheel one. If you have a 991.2 non-MF wheel then you will have to add the control stalks the same as you would for adding a Sport Design wheel. Only difference is the final wheel added will be the 991.2 GT wheel instead. Then programing of the stalk to operate your MF functions just the same. Easily done other than swapping of the actual wheel installed.

Please post pics of your steering wheel. Did you have to buy the parts from the dealer?

I didn't. At the end of the day a Porsche dealer can't refuse to install a Porsche part if it was purchased from another Porsche dealer.

Yes, we discussed this with OP:

Porsche genearlly does Hex pattern stitching for same tone color:

and Diamond stitching on contrast color:

We believe it's done for two reasons:

1. Hex on contrast color looks too busy.

2. The leather area under stitching will inevitably wrinkle up a bit, and it will look obvious with Hex+Contrast.

We're glad OP used factory stitching. Happy Client = Happy RRS

Actually on 991.2, only GT sport steering wheel that is done in diamond pattern, other wheels in hex, does not matter if it is deviating or not.

What wheels are those in your signature?

Thanks! We are admittedly not as familiar with the 991.2 and edited our original post accordingly.

Those are Porsche Sport Classic wheels. 19". They were an option on a few 997 cars. I had the "spokes"of this set polished like 911's from my childhood. They don't do that anymore.

2) Modified by RRS Motorsports with thicker rim all the way around, Carrera Red pointe-crosse stitching and 10mm Carrera Red band at top of wheel
3) Leather steering column with Carrera Red deviated stitching from Exclusive Option
4) Replaced the black outer trim which is how the GT Sport wheel is setup with the silver outer trim from the GT3 RS or GT4 steering wheels to create a look where all the spokes are fully metal in appearance and not a mix of metal and matte black plastic.

Overall I am super happy with the upgrade:
1) It looks stunning and it is unique. I haven't seen any Porsche wheel the same as this yet.
2) RRS Motorsport did a very nice job with the modifications. I love the thicker rim which feels superb. The workmanship is also as good as Porsche OEM.
3). Also the short throw paddles are amazing.

Part numbers:
Steering Wheel (leather 991.2 with paddles, no mf, no SC, plain black rim with black stitching): 9P1-419-091-FD-A34
Silver outer trim piece for steering wheel: 95B-419-732-GT8
Leather Airbag for Macan (works with 991 as well): 95B-880-201-A-A34
That is basically exactly what I want, though I'd go with alcantara instead of leather. I hope to find someone in the UK to do it for me.
