Default 911_50 Market

Hello all. Long time lurker, first time to post. I'm looking at potentially buying a 50th Anniversary 911. Very few are on the market, and they run from $107 (non-CPO) to $137. KBB has trade in at about $110 and Retail CPO'd at around $118. I'm finding it hard to get a clear grasp of what a reasonable purchase price should be. The dealer tells me that it's a special car, and that the kbb numbers don't apply (right--until I go to sell it...). It does look like the market is treating the cars well and that the resale values are very good. Maybe being pushed up because of the 991.2 as a turbo? In any case, anyone who has had first hand experience with pricing in the last six months or so who's willing to share info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and thanks to all who post on RL--a great resource.

Thanks Tony. I had searched Autotrader and that's where I got the range that I put in my post. I was thinking that maybe some people on the forum had some personal experience with the recent market.

It's commanding a premium and doing better with resale than the other Carrera's. I expect that to continue in the future. Those that have them, love them, and many are keepers.

If you're really set on a 50th, you'll pay more and have less to choose from than say a 991.1 GTS or Carrera S/4S.

I'd bet, in about 20-25 years, a nice 50th with pepita and a 7 speed manual, will command a very nice premium.

Don't expect I'll own it still that far down the road. But I wish I had thought of that before I sold my 993 C4S ten years ago...

50th in Geyser/ Pepita is a very special car. When it came out I was tempted but had only had my turbo for a year at that time and wasn't ready to change. Then a year later I went on a search for a 50A and didn't find the right one during my brief search. Word of the upcoming 991.2 turbo hit the street and speculation was that it would be the 2016 model. I got scared 991.1 orders would close so I ordered my GTS last February 2015.

If the perfect 50a turned up I'd think long and hard about swapping and would probably do it, even if I lost money. What is perfect? Geyser, pepita, 7M, sunroof delete, under 10k miles. I could work with the presence or absence of other options.

+1

I'm pretty sure I'd be happy with this exact car being my last 911.

This isn't an exact answer to your question. My 911/50 has 8K kilometres (about 5K miles). My SA told me I could get what I paid for it. No appreciation like a Gt3RS but no depreciation. I am not stupid enough to believe everything I am told but I do think it has done well in comparison. Of course mine isn't even close to your "dream version" because I ordered it to be my dream version. I also don't think mine is worth more just because it is the lowest numbered one in NA.

I don't know about values but if I owned your car it would never be sold. I always regretted not getting one when I was offered an allocation from my dealer.

I miss the days when cool cars used to depreciate. You know, like five years ago?

Seriously, best of luck in your search, really a beautiful car
