It's a numbered car. Won't see this one under MSRP ever. The markups will be less for sure if .2 GT3 is 4.0/manual.

More likely the GT3 will cost more for the 4.0 and 6MT

I'm wondering if this is a "generic" form to cover the 911 991.2 3.0L line.

I find it hard to believe that the 3.0 L turbo in 3 different BHP ratings (370 base, 420 S, 450 (?) GTS-Powerkit) all have the same certified emission levels.

I don't think you get to "phone it in" to the ARB! Really the point of this was not to compare emissions but to highlight the forthcoming 2017 3l tt GTS models...

I would think they would be REQUIRED to have the same certified emissions level. But I don't know.

Nice scoop Larry Cable

Some day I'll have to ask you how on earth you found this document. V-e-r-y resourceful.

No I'm not comparing emissions but wondering if the form really covers all possible 3.0L turbo engine applications even if they are just possible in the future and may not come to fruition.

I assume that if the engines really have different power and fuel consumption levels then they must have different emission levels as the same grams per mile of CO infers the same fuel consumption per mile. So it seems to me unlikely that this form can cover all versions of the 3.0L engine.

My main train of thought was if it is possible that this form was submitted some time ago (as a "preliminary" to allow sales of MY17 cars to begin) and only approved recently by the CARB. I wondering if it is truly indicative of current plans for engine-model combinations and if these plans could have changed since the time of submission.

The only thing that bothers me about this CARB notice is that it is for the 2017 MY and it was my understanding that the .2s on the lots now are 2017 MY cars and there are no .2 GTS. I would be a bit more excited if the document was for MY 2018. That would give me more hope. This just makes me ask, so are they going to bring a GTS or not?

No I believe they have to meet the same maximum allowable standard (STD) but are certified (CERT) to what they actually produce.

Good points. I know at one time manufactures had to meet a FLEET certification. So if they sold a big gas guzzling truck they also tried to sell an econo car to even things out and meet the Fleet requirements. I wonder if this is something similar.

That makes sense.

Sorry to ruin the party but I just found this sticker on the plastic envelope my 991.2 C4S manuals came in.
I really think that the 991.2 GTS will have a small power boost, same 3.0l turbo engine as the Base and S.

This whole thread is horrifying to me.

It confirms that Porsche is going to stick with TT for their 991.2 GTS. Ok....we knew that. But it also confirms they are sticking with their 3 L engine for the GTS. Most of us guessed at that too.

Let's put the pieces together...... They wack off 2 cylinders from the 981, add a Turbo and a name change and charge more..... Few are going to pay that much money for a "non 9" Porsche with turbo sound that only has 4 cylinders. The 718 will go the way of the 912. I promise.

Then they keep the displacement on the 991.2 base, S, and GTS the same while increasing turbo boost which cost them like Zero dollars (ok..a bit more for the bigger turbos) and they charge a butt ton more.

Business folks have beaten the car enthusiast for the direction of their cars........the bean counters do not get it.

The free market is going to have a vote. And it is the ultimate vote.

I went to a 991.2 rollout the other day. Several SAs told me that business is really down and they don't know why....wait till the 718 and 991.2GTS hits the street.

We won't see any more mainstream 911s (including GTS variants) with engines over 3.0L. The Chinese tax authorities have made that decision for us all.

They will probably end up killing the Boxster and Cayman lines altogether. Now that they no longer share as many 911 powertrain components, the number of units they have to sell to maintain profitability will be higher, but it seems unlikely that the numbers will move in that direction.
