How did you know about the meeting??? You're not a member of the registry.

First post. Been reading this thread since the beginning. I have a Carmine Red 15 GTS ordered with 4 way seats and no sunroof to keep the weight down. I feel the GTS is a trim level as stated above, but it's a trim level that Porsche took great pains to get just right as it was the last iteration of their main model line in non-turbo form. Some reviewers say it has a better sound than the GT cars because of where the flaps open. Unfortunately Porsche gave the buyers too many options and some builds don't seem to make sense.
My brother and I drove the new Vette before I bought the GTS. Love the design, but we were both blown away with the terrible build quality and funky auto transmission.
Thinking of changing out my steering wheel for a new, smaller GT wheel in alcantara.

IF you do this, which I wouldn't even consider, keep the original handy for the future resale value...

Did you try the Manual? Chevy's Auto is a true Auto transmission, not a double clutch like the PDK. Totally useless in a sports car in my opinion.

No, we just drove the Auto, the car was so loose, rattles on top of rattles. Only half the price of the Porsche, but there was no question that it was not a car for me. I am sure the later versions are better, but still, to release a new car that feels like an old car, no excuse in my mind. GTS blows me away.

I will keep my old steering wheel in a box for resale.

Funny, I ordered my car with Alcantara wheel and lever. It came with leather. Porsche dealer got me an Alcantara wheel, but I was surprised that Porsche built it wrong, the sheet was clear, alcantara!

I actually prefer the leather wheel. I have issues with the grip of Alcantara. The looks are a different story. No contest. Guess i need occupational therapy.

I hate that the leather gets shiny when old, the alcantara stands up well and can be wet cleaned. Feels good to me!

The grip is definitely not as good as the leather. The grip isn't there. No question about it! For me the leather is much better. Some will disagree but we all have our opinion.

Alcantara is harder wearing than leather and the grip is far superior thats why its used in the seat back and base - in terms of the wheel the grip is also far better and this is even more evident if you use nomex.

It is also lighter than leather so makes for a faster car. It all adds up !-)

The only thing I would change on my order is getting alcantara instead of leather.

The GTS is a cool car, but it's nothing more than a high option package Carrera S. And the idea that they're rare or unobtanium like the GT cars is nuts. There's dozens of low mileage GTSs for sale on various sites right now at solid discounts from their original MSRP.
Currently 66 GT3 RS and 55 GTS for sale on Car Gurus US nationwide.
