If you go the 7:38 minute in the video. He pronounces it Porsche with two syllable's very distinctly. Not that it makes a difference but it is loud and clear.

In regards to the pronunciation it truly is a regional thing and I think our English holds us back. No offence intended to the name Porsche or anyone, it truly is our language & region. Nonetheless, amazingly great cars to drive and sit in.

Actually most Australians think that people who pronounce it as two syllables are, well, inclined to self-satisfaction and more than little full of their own importance. It's generally safer to call it them Porker than Porsch-a when downunder.

Just saying.

There's some truth in that.

Every region pronounces words differently, it's the way the world is, whether we like it or not. 😁😁

Otherwise, next review on the list, the all new Turbo!!

Thanks for the review. That bumper shot really highlighted how downhill the car has gone in the sound department. If I was in the market, I would definitely be scouring the country for a .1 that fits the bill.

I typically say "Porschey". That way people don't think you're an idiot for thinking it's one syllable, but they don't think you're a elitest douche for using correct pronounciation either.

Default high rev idle - anyone else have this "problem"

Hi all,
New to Rennlist! Avid reader, but never joined...

So, I picked up my new 2017 991.2 Carrera 4S three days ago. I noticed that some of the times when I start it up, the tachometer arm idles high (as in, sits between 1200-1500 rpms). After 15 seconds or so, the needle drops to below 1000 rpms (as in, where it should be). Anyone else experience this - not sure if it's a problem or not? I called my dealership today and they weren't "sure" - said they would look into it.

I traded in my 08 Turbo and never had this issue.

THANKS!

That's normal. Initial idle is a little higher until it warms up.

I hope you're right! Thanks for that. My concern was that I "thought" that an initial high idle only relates to a "cold start" - as in when it's literally cold! It's summer here and my car is in the garage, so I a quite surprised. Waiting to hear bac from my dealer (they weren't sure). Fingers crossed you're right! I am hoping for someone who has a 991.2 to respond and advise whether you has experienced t same "issue" or not. If yes, I won't worry. If not, I'm concerned...

Completely normal for any new vehicle because of emissions control.
My 991.2 operates the same as do any of my vehicles.-Richard

Richard, thanks for that.

Second question - every single time I put my foot on the gas and give it some juice, I can hear the whoooosh of the turbo spooling and then stops, leaving pure engine sound - does yours do the same? My previous 08 Turbo ONLY made the whoosh when I was seriously accelerating. In other words, I am surprised that it makes the whoosh each time. Just want to ensure that is "normal". Thx!
