Brand New 991 Pdk failure
Hi I just picked up my 991 carrera S a week ago and got a Pdk error message
I have only driven 250 kms. I took it back to the dealer and he has told me that the Pdk is defective, basically the Pdk and clutch oils have been mixing.
Porsche are replacing the Pdk tranny.
Have you guys come across this before

Wow, you have a lot of leather.
There have been some failures. Porsche will fix it and you'll likely never have another issue. Good luck.

yep....know the problem all too well.....my previous 2013 C2S @ 17k miles experienced the same problem (i was the second owner). no symptoms or warnings. parked to grab a coffee and the car's transmission didn't work upon my return. an entire transmission and module were replaced at Porsche's cost (it's like an $11k bill).
starting to see more and more of these instances, you can read about some of them here at RL.com.......do a search!

I know of three of these failures in the past year from the board. Don't know the actual number or if its "normal" to have transmission issues with x many units out there, but it sucks and causes me worry. Hope you get sorted out quickly!

Typically if anything major is going to fail it's when it's brand new! It's a complicated mechanical machine it happens unfortunately, however that is why everyone is given a warranty from the manufacturer to cover the issues!

Of the handful of PDK failures noted online most have issues early on with relatively very low miles on the car right where you expect them to be.
Makes us higher mileage PDK'ers hopeful not to have any issues.

Damn all this. I have a TT on order that I plan on keeping for a long time. PDK is the only option. I wish I could get manual. Don't know why they cram this technology down owners throats? Sorry to OP. This gives me no confidence in summing this technology will be a keeper.
I wonder if long-time don the rod owners will try to swap to manual one day when told PDK has failed off of warranty.

Look at it this way - the part is very expensive to replace. If it has to fail, better to fail straight off the bat while you're barely into warranty!
You will be happy with the repair and forget all about this.

Update
Agreed with Derek...We have to look at the Bright Side and from my experience Porsche were quick to rectify the issue (maybe they know about it). I found out from the service manager that after further investigations of my PDK it was found to have a defective seal between the Clutch and Gears, this was causing the oil to mix. My car was found to have only 800ml of PDK oil and 4.6 litres of clutch oil. He told me that if I had continued to drive the car the gearbox would have seized. what surprises me the most is that there was another 991 which was bought a few days after mine was in the garage for the same issue. Both the cars were manufactured in Aug 2015.
The plus side is that it happened now than later.
