Default Paint issue on my 2400 mile car

So I dropped my car off at the detailers for a detail, paint correction and full Xpel protection + 2 year sealant. I got the car used with 2400 miles and when the detailer clay barred the car he found so many scratches that were simply buffed out and not corrected. I.e. dealer when cheap to sell used and covered up the problem instead of fixing it!

I'll post some pics soon... detailer is taking pics as he goes. Anyone else buy a used low mileage car with surprise paint problems and condition?

Seems normal for dealers. They're not going to spend dollars on paint correction.

Ugh *PAINT

Can a moderator correct my typo please... I'm type "A" and knowing that I misspelled that in the title is going to cause serious mental trauma.

I bought a leftover new car that was a mess. Dealer had obviously tried to do correction and mauled it. The paint was so thin in spots it limited what we could do, but my guy worked some magic on it to make it look really good without doing further damage.

Pint issue! Reminds me of the advert campaign...
"Fosters, Australian for beer!"

Completely normal. Most dealers are just looking for shine, not a flawless surface. You can make a car shine like hell without making it flawless. And the vast majority of people don't care. But it's not as pretty IMO :-)

R_, hope the issue is fully resolved. Which nano coating are you using? And I'd love to get a sense of what full Xpel costs if you don't mind PM'ing me

Nothing surprising here. If your detailer is good, your car will be just fine and should look amazing when done.

If you think that's bad, imagine buying a NEW La Ferrari that needs paint correction.

Skip down to New Car Preparation:

Or just watch the before/after video:

So I'd say it's completely normal.

So I'd say it's completely normal.
It is normal for all dealers just to buff and shine it. I had mine detailed and corrected by Esoteric. Even for a brand new car, it is a night and day difference.

I was typing this in a PM but wanted to share here also incase someone else was considering a clear wrap...

The best advice from my perspective is to find a detailer you can trust. With these types of things - the quality of labor is more important the the product. There are many films, waxes, sealants, etc but each is only as good as the person applying it and their attention to detail. We talk so much about product here but it's not like we can say here's 16 screws in these steps and torque the bolts to x lbs, etc.

I like the dealer for maintenance while under warranty but the dealer will outsource this work to the vendor they can make the highest margin on, etc.
