Does the Powerkit engine sound different?
....as compared with the regular 'S'. I am still in the honeymoon period, really enjoying the engine note across the rev range on my GTS. Curious if all other 3.8 9A1 motors sound the same.

No the GTS does sound different to S...It has a deeper tone, more roar and less drone..And it come standard with PSE which adds even more. Enjoy the noise, because the turbos have killed the 991.2 sound.

Yep, I think the GTS has something to make it louder.
Love the noise of my GTS, it stopped my buying a new 991.2.

that is why the powerkit motor's HP is still rising after 7000 rpm whereas the reg S motor peaks at and then falls dramatically after 6200 rpm
( which is also why when using Launch Control on a PDK powerkitted motor , the ECU allows the rev limiter to rise to 7800 rpm ( most dont know this ) vs usual 7500 cut out on the S motor AS WELL AS the power-kitted 7 speed manual transmission models , even though the tachometer redline is the same on the former )
Hard to describe in words but to me the power kit motor is less blattey /rattly on cold starts ; its base or PSE -on idle sound is the same loudness but sl deeper and cleaner and it has a " firmer/buzzier " more assertive intake sound when moving through the rev band with associated subtle difference in the engine harmonics that I can definitely feel ( in a better more connected less viscousy way ) in the steering wheel as if the steering wheel foam were harder and the car's variable motor mounts were stiffer in all phases , but we know the latter are unchanged .
Most won't discern these subtle sound/ feel differences jumping from a reg S to powerkit S during test driving at a dealership for the first time ...you need long term ownership seat time with the regular 400 hp version 991 S / PSE / Sport Chrono combination to tell .

Interesting feedback. I know many guys on here have had other 991s. It is just such a cool, rich sound from the moment you turn the key over. Listening to folks describe differences in the 'timbre' reminds me of the different smells one invokes in trying to describe a fine wine.

My wife says my cigar buddies are a support group. We're like, it's subtly stronger with slightly fuller body.... Same crap my hipster coffee hangout people say too. Add car exhausts to the list.
Not to brag... But C2S+IPE F1 > everything else Just saying. Has great earthiness and hints of spice.

Are there any videos out there demonstrating this difference?
