Starting out go try on some open face helmets. Get the cheapest one you are comfortable in.

A friend and I did a Skip Barber Performance Driving experience last year at Lime Rock Park in CT. They were happy to let you use your own lid. I opted for a spare Nolan N102 modular that I picked up on a screaming closeout deal. Great for scootering and the occasional track shenanigans.



BTW, we got to run laps with all the cars on the second day, gradually building up to as-fast-as-we-could-handle it. My first track experience, and the seat time in the Carrera is what made me decide that I simply had to get one.
