Default Ducktail on Ice for 991.2...

Hello Guys,

I was at training this week in Atlanta at Avengers Headquarters in the new
movie and was told that there will not be any ducktail on the new 991.2 due to the intercooler requirements. That is a bummer as I was looking forward to getting a new 911 with the ducktail but I may just hang on to mine a little longer now...

good to know ... makes sense - does this mean no aero kit at all?

I guess the design of the new engine's cooling etc may preclude this.

So I have one of the last Aero Cup Kit's on my 2016 991.1. Does this mean I can retire now?

Glad I got my GTS with aero kit now. I think this will make the cars owners, be it duck or aero. HAPPY (:

I wonder why they won't be designing the duck to have the same type on charge air cooling inlet as the 991.2 with its mechanical spoiler. While I have not seen the 991.2, it appears the charge air is entering through the front of the spoiler. This suggests that there will be a gap in the spoiler unlike the current spoiler which is flush to the body when retracted. Perhaps the duck just will not look very stylish with it not being one solid piece. Personally, I don't think this design of air intake will last very long. It seems like it was a force fit to get the engine in the car without major body style changes. I bet the next generation will use side charge air inlets like the current Turbo models.

Hate to say I told ya so! Porsche has never released a ducktail on any generation turbo due to intercoolers! Anyone with a factory ducktail 2016 NA has GOT to be pleased by that news! Now if only they hadn't made GT Silver a standard color on the .2!! f

Of course the .2 guys can hold out hope the return of the whale tail!!!

The EEA (European Environmental Agency) research on aerodynamic add ons has shown they cause too much fast driving and way to much fun. Their (EEA) implied conclusion was this causes excessive global warming in the Middle East and Siberia. Porsche immediately agreed and pulled the plug on the duck and aero package.
