Default Club Coupe arrived today - bitter sweet

After 8 months of anticipation, my Club Coupe was delivered today. My dealership is 130 miles away and the roads are horrible, so the car was delivered to my driveway.
Unfortunately, as soon as the driver opened the rear door, we both knew there was a problem. The rear bumper and some body panels were scratched by, it appears, someone who had no idea what they were doing with a power buffer! Attached are a couple of photos of the damage. Huge disappointment, but I have to remind myself that I still own one of 60 of these incredible machines!

Will be talking to the dealer tomorrow - I pray they do not have to do any repainting!!!

Mark

Mark,

That is horrible! I'm sorry you have to deal with this. Thankfully, it is just paint and not bent sheet metal. Hopefully, a paint correction specialist will get you squared away. My CC is scheduled to be here mid-December. I'd be just as heart broken as you. I'm sure your dealer will get it fixed. Congratulations and good luck!!

I see you are in Oregon, take the car to Paul Damico at Attention to Detail NW, he is the master on paint correction in your area. Tell him Nathan sent you. Talk to the GSM about compensating you for your expense of having to make it right.

Possibly could go after some compensation for loss of value too, depending upon what exactly is entailed in paint correction, from either dealer or insurance company.

sounds good to me. Hopefully its just some knowledgable sweat equity to correct the mistake.

Hoping for the best.

Looks like transport damage not buffer damage, unless someone tried doing that after the damage as well. The delivery is insured I'm sure? Someone was careless with transport. From Germany, to the dealer they are covered with film and foam bumpers.

This happened from when the dealer received it to when it arrived to you. The dealer screwed up somewhere along the line.

Any scratches though the paint? Hard to tell from the glare.

I would think/hope the dealership took pictures after it was safely loaded. So the damage is either by the dealership from PDI or the shipper from loading. Hard to tell from your pictures, but I bet this can all be fix with a skilled detailer and paint correction. About 2 days work and $1,200. Get a nano coating (OptiCoat pro Plus, CQuarts...etc) done at the same time. Will look better than new factory paint.

Loss of what value? How would you calculate? With a proper paint correction and sealant wax, that car will be worth MORE....not less.

sorry to hear about that. It does not matter who did the damage, insist on the dealer handling the problem and if they think it is the transport company, then let them deal with it rather than throwing back at you. . Also insist on you getting a detailer of your choice and they pay him directly.

Agreed, that is absolutely terrible work and your dealer should be paying a detailer (of your choice!) to fix it up. If you need to cover a portion towards the coating IMO that would be fine.

Who arranged shipping? You or the dealership? It makes a difference in how this can/will be resolved.

That's terrible. As others have stated, possible transport damage that the carrier tried to correct? Hard to believe a dealer would have done that, and why would it have needed to be buffed?

Based on my own experience with some buffer burn marks, I'm guessing a good detailer will be able to remove all of that. That said, my head would have exploded when they opened the trailer and I saw that. Absolutely ridiculous that they tried to deliver a car like that.
