Default 13mit's first 911 search

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy my first Porsche within the next month or so as a Christmas gift to myself. I was hoping you guys could take a look at a couple options I've been looking at, help me throw out a couple of offers, and possibly check out the vehicle if anyone would be awesome enough to do that

If this has everything you really want and the price seems like it is at a good starting point for the negotiations then work a wheel swap into the discussion -- it is fairly easy for the dealer to do -- especially if that would close out the sale for him.

In other words -- the need to swap to a SD should not kill the deal if it is the one you really want.

Wow. That's a lot of car for mid 60's including CPO.... a good car at a good price always, at least in my experience, goes fast. If you like it, price is right, do it!

See if they can help with the PSE install at cost also - it is a cab after all.

I actually bought the car and then due to a sudden family emergency (dad got taken to the hospital), I had to back out. I'm super bummed as I was literally a flight away from picking her up but family comes first.

Someone should really take advantage of this deal though! I'll post it in STG's thread as well.

It is? The pictures I looked at had a coupe. P$E overrated, IMHO.

For a non-S, I don't think it's an exceptional price, but it's certainly not bad. But you are right, good cars priced right do move quickly.

Thankfully everything worked out ok for the fam

Now I'm back in the search and have been looking at 2 very similar cars:

Car #1:
250 - Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)
423 - 20-inch Carrera S wheel
446 - Wheel center caps with colored Porsche Crest
640 - Sport Chrono Package
651 - Electric sunroof
658 - Power Steering Plus
672 - Navigation Module
840 - SportDesign steering wheel
AG - Black standard interior
N0 - Agate Grey Metallic
P06 - Power Sport Seats (14-way)
P37 - BOSE® Audio Package
P38 - Premium Package
XSC - Porsche Crest on headrests

Car #2:
250 - Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)
423 - 20-inch Carrera S wheel
636 - ParkAssist (front and rear)
651 - Electric sunroof
658 - Power Steering Plus
672 - Navigation Module
AG - Black standard interior
N0 - Agate Grey Metallic
P06 - Power Sport Seats (14-way)
P37 - BOSE® Audio Package
P39 - Premium Package Plus

The way I see it, the big difference is Car #1 has SC and Car #2 has Premium Package Plus. Can you guys give me some insights on which feature would be better to have? Is either one a must-have?

Pretty simple, really. If you want performance and sport - sport chrono is a must-have. If you like more luxury and features, then premium plus. I'm not sure premium plus adds that much more over premium. Ventilated seats I know is one feature.

Since it's most likely going to be a daily driver, I'm leaning towards premium plus (although I love that SC stopwatch!!!). Would anyone close to the West Palm Beach area be kind enough to check out a car for me?

I would be wary about getting a PDK car without SC. I happen to drive a manual, but PDK drivers can chime in.

I had a PDK cab with SC and PPP- car was a DD. Not sure I got much mileage out of the SC but used the PPP features every day. If I had to choose between the 2, I would go with PPP.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well mdkrp. While Sports Chrono is super appealing to me, the practical side of me says PP+ is probably the more useful option

This was absolutely true for 997 versions, but not for 991s as the PDK 991s all come with a Sport button, but the PDK 997s did not have a Sport button. The Sport button is key for the type of driving most 911 drivers like to do.

With the 997 PDK cars, if you got SC then this added the Sport and Sports Plus buttons, and the respective throttle mapping/shift points. If you didn't get SC, then all you had was normal mode and your 997 PDK car sucked to drive.

With the 991 its different as all PDK cars come with the Sport button. So if you add SC to a 991 it means you now get a clock on the dash, magnetic engine mounts, and a Sports Plus button.

However Sports Plus is really just for tracking your car as that's the only time you need shift points between 7000 and 8500 RPM.

So the short answer is that if you're 100% sure that you won't regularly take your 911 to the racetrack, then you don't need SC. If your car might see the track on some kind of regular basis, then you should buy a 991 with SC.
