Did you guys negotiate a price and signed a contract before ordering? If so, I'd be very curious on the kind of deals you guys are able to negotiate. Or was only a deposit and some kind of verbal agreement needed?

I've always bought new cars off the lot before, never ordered like this more than 6 months ahead.

in my experience and opinion, you should always negotiate the total out the door price before placing your order / deposit. That has made me feel better in the past. But other folks are a lot more relaxed about it.... whatever you feel comfortable with...

I think what you're going to find -with limited exceptions -the first orders will go out at MSRP, then as we get into summer the demand of being the first will ebb a little and then you'll start to see a trend towards normal discounting 5-7%.

They will be discounted 5-7% out of the box. Demand is not there to justify MSRP only pricing. Dealers want to move cars and there aren't any waiting lists here.

This is very interesting... Thank you. It's the first time I hear about this. Has anyone else heard about this?

When you order a car do you settle on discount off MSRP at time of order? Also do you decide on financing at time of order? I guess a conventional car loan would be done after the car arrives, but what about money factor for a lease? Sorry for the questions, but I have never ordered a car.

In my experience you simply place a deposit and agree on a percentage off MSRP when ordering. Buying vs. leasing is something you can choose at delivery. Interest rates usually are updated monthly so you can wait to make up your mind based on that.

Default 991.2 Ordered

I just ordered a 991.2 C2 with a 12/21 freeze date. Delivery March immediately after the launch party. I have a great relationship with my dealership and they assured me on the discount. Also they have all initial 10 allocations spoken for at the moment. I was first on the list so it seems there is interest at least in the southwest. This will be my 6th 911 having 997.2's, 991 c4s's and c2's. I have heard all the objections (NA/TT) but really am looking forward to the increased torque off the line. After all, it's a Porsche!

Yeah these things are crazy expensive... I'm losing sleep over it I bought an Audi S3 last year thinking it could be a good all-year-round compromise now that I'm a family man... Nostalgia from my Cayman S quickly kicked in. I'll keep the S3 for convenience/winter and I'll have the 911 for the fun rides/weekend trips. Can't wait!!
Wasn't too long ago you could buy a 9971.1 TT for $151 plus change. Porsche, I mean VW, wasn't kidding when they said they were goinv to take the 911 "UP MARKET"!

+1 on that: can't go wrong with a brand new 911. It's going to be a very different beast than the 991.1 with all that low-end torque.
