Default How Often Do You Redline?

I just traded my 2011 Panamera 3.6L for a 2013 911S manual with sport exhaust. The engine in the Panamera had to be replaced (only 2 wks left on warranty). No warranty on the new engine and I got a black on black S with most of the performance options(around 40k of options), just had the 40k service and they gave me a new Cayenne to drive for 2 mos.-Porsche has a wonderful warranty program and my 911S has over 3 years of CPO.

I feel good about the trade, I did love the Panamera but I did not feel good about it without the warranty.

How often do you, if ever, go to 8,000 rpms?

I do not drive on a track.

Great choice! Congrats!
It seems that the 9A1 engine in the 991 S can take a beating. There are many reports from track guys who are running them hard.

These engines are made to live in the high RPM range. That's where the power is.

Redline is a necessity every time I go through a tunnel.

The high gearing makes redlining a 1st gear only (sometimes 2nd) exercise. So not often.

I redline it almost every single time I drive the car (oil up to temperature first). Less so when my wife is in the car.

Yep - get it up to temp first. But then have at it.
