Smile A manual transmission on mountain roads is ideal!

I am vacationing near the Blue Ridge Parkway in western North Carolina. What an experience to drive this road in a new c4s. It is flawless!

Good for you! Make sure you hit the Tail of the Dragon and some of the more quiet surrounding roads. Spectacular country and some of the best roads in the USA! I have a 7mt 991 GTS and look forward to taking it to those spots. Enjoy!

Not sure where you are in relation to the BRP, but the "Devils's Whip" on Hwy 80 north of Marion has great twisties:

Why is it more important to be able to use a foot pedal to uncouple the driveline on a mountain road, as opposed to anywhere else?

For me, manual transmissions are as outmoded as manual choke and throttle **** on the dashboards of pre 1960s cars and the spark advance lever on pre 1930s vehicles. They are fun to tinker with for a while, but ultimately irritating and imprecise. All hail the DCT.

You forgot to add "IMO". As that's all it is. Just because some of us still prefer the engaged driving an MT car provides it doesn't mean we are Neanderthals.

I still like well made English or Italian Goodyear welt oxfords, home made pasta and women with their own ***** too. But I won't judge what your choices might be. IMO I guess you did say "For me" though.

I just bought a PDK 991S and I'm loving it..
I admit; I do miss my 6speed a little.

I like my 991 PDK.

I have four other cars with a manual transmission. The 915 5-speed transmission works well.

My head is in violent agreement with you. My heart is in violent disagreement.

To the OP - if you can, I highly recommend continuing all the way to connect with Skyline Drive and driving through the Shenandoah National Park. Just a beautiful part of this country! Watch out for Johnny Law though.
