Hi Vlad,

Thanks again for the quick shipping. The install was as easy as advertised but the one thing I noticed when installing on the right side of my 991 screen is that when taking the phone in and out the mount would move a bit too easy. Not a big deal as long as things stay put.

The problem I had today is when accelerating, the phone ended up in my lap along with the mount. It seems that in the last week or so things just loosened up. Now I can't get the mount to stay on the right side at all.

What I think has happened is that either the mount has ever so slightly shifted the display or the opening just increases a bit. Either way the mount no longer holds. Any advice?

I was considering adding some felt or something like that to increase the thickness but I'm worried that it will just do the same thing over time. I can see how this would never be a problem with the center mount in the older car but perhaps it is inevitable in the 991?

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,

The problem is most probably with the panel that holds the bracket in place. The panel -the left wall of passenger footwell/central tunnel- is hold by "round clips" and in rare cases it's not clipped all the way in from the factory. And then it can "unclip", and that will change the gap and grip level.

In one case in 981 the gap between PCM and the panel was just bigger than standard. We fixed it by using strip of felt (same I use on the back). Also please make sure the bracket isn't installed too high. It should be no higher than in installation video. Use the cupholder cover/door/strip for reference
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cun8VCCVtis

You can see principle and those "round clips" in the middle of this installation video:

Let me know the results.

Did the above get resolved. I am thinking about ordering the T9 design.

Yes it did. I ended up putting a piece of felt tape on each side of the "blade" that slides into the gap between the PCM and the trim piece. It seems to have increased the thickness enough and the felt should help stick it in place a bit better than the bare metal.

I love the placement and ease of use of this mount so a little tweaking is well worth it.

Great.

I also would like to note that problems like these are not typical. But occasionally some car's panels fitment differs significantly, as in this case.

I am deciding now between the Vlad's and Proclip. The only real diff is the placement.
I am going to sit in my car and figure out which placement is the best.

Has anyone used T-design/Vlad's bracket with different mount? My iphone 6 plus with case would not fit his mount.

Yes I used Vlad's bracket with a Proclip powered cradle. It seems to be very nicely positioned and I was able to run the power cable into the glovebox in a very simple manner. It could be hidden better by running it behind some trim.

I already have the controls for an escort 9500ci in the ashtray compartment so the fusion dock wouldn't work for me, and I also like to use waze, so I need to be able to see the screen.

I do all kinds of custom solutions. I can most of proclip mounts on my bracket. I just find them quite ugly and bulky, strictly from my personal aesthetics point of view. And not suitable for one-hand operation.

But with phones getting in size closer and closer to the 80's TV size, it looks like I need to think about oversize stock option

Placement is one difference - mine requires less eye movement as it places the phone right where PCM screen is. There is few more subtle differences.
1. It's easier to use the phone (use fingers on touchscreen) while resting palm of your hand on gearshift, for stabilization

2. One hand operation is very fast and easy with my mount. You can put phone in and take it out with one hand and very fast.

It's all subtle, but quite use full for day to day use.

Originally purchased a Scosche mount and ended up using it in the truck. T-Design is the way to go and works perfect. T

I still went the other way with the pro clip mount next to the shifter on the edge of the leather on the console and holder on it so I can exactly clear the cup holder...with the swivel attachment it is nearly as high as these but top of phone just misses the cup holder as I always have a bottle of water or something with me. I rely on easy to get to the screen and it works very well. Not as clean and yes a little too bulky vs the t design but just wish Porsche made any spot to put the damn phone we all have in the car... the T does get it up away from the passenger and their knee but I will sacrifice for my beverage apparently.
