Just Received My 2015 GTS 4 Cab
I just picked up my car. I purchased it from a dealer in Dallas that had it in their showroom. I couldn't find what I wanted locally (Chicago) and didn't want to wait forever (since Chicago has a small window for a Cab).
I originally was going to buy a 2016 GTS Cab in GT Silver that the Dallas dealer had, but the lack of Entry and Drive and the 4-way seats (which I couldn't test out locally) made me have second thoughts. I'm happy I went with the 2015 GTS 4 Cab - with Entry and Drive, seat memory and the 18-way. Those features are worth it.
Specs are:
2015 GTS 4 Cab
Black top
Rhodium Silver
Black interior (combo of leather and Alcantara)
Leather Steering Wheel
PDK
Steering wheel heating
Power Steering Plus
Multifunction Steering Wheel
Rear Facia Painted
18-way seats
BOSE
Premium Package Plus
Side Skirts Painted
Since I bought it off the lot (sight unseen), it had some options I would not have selected and missing some that I would have added if I built it. On the whole it had enough of what I wanted. I realize its a bit of a suburban cruiser given the PDK, comfort options and it being a Cab as opposed to a true GTS car, but its a ton of fun none the less. I've never owned a Cab and I love it.
I have a 2014 RS7 as a DD and its nice to have the contrast of engines. The Audi is so fast in a straight line, but the 991 is much more fun to drive. First world dilemmas.
I had also owned a 2002 Carrera 2 MT in GT Silver and I loved that car. Originally I was going to try and recreate that car, but couldn't find one similarly optioned. I couldn't stand the wait for an ordered car. I was already losing sleep and driving my family and friends crazy.
First of all - the exhaust sound just makes me laugh while I drive it. It sounds so good in Sport mode/with sports exhaust engaged. Heads definitely turn. I feel like a kid who just got their license. I'm happy to run any errand - just an excuse to get in the car.
The car feels so stable and planted, it just oozes confidence. The Powerkit with the GTS is excellent and there is just endless power.
I originally would not have selected the painted rear facia and side skirts, but it really adds to the car. It makes it look like it was lowered and ties everything together. I highly recommend anyone ordering consider those options.
The center spoke wheel look amazing. I don't plan to track it, so the feedback that they are a pain in the a** didn't really come into play.
PDK - I'm really a MT guy and was not sure I would like the PDK. It is excellent. Up/down shifts are quick and clean and it makes driving a pleasure. Using the "paddles" gives me some satisfaction that I got with a MT.
I also didn't think I'd like the Multifunction Steering Wheel, but I do. After a short time, you get used to the shift buttons and the actions. Having volume control and being able to scroll the PCM is nice. I'm still not a fan of the little PDK emblem on the steering wheel, but I assume over time I'll just look past it.
The jury is still out on the Alcantara seats. They are pretty warm and I probably would have preferred the leather seats with heating AND cooling, however they do look nice. I hope they wear well.
I wasn't looking for the 4 because the RS7 is AWD and I prefer a rear wheel drive car, but the GTS 4 is on rails and I do love it. Also, having the 4 will help with resale in Chicago.
I also wanted the Burmester because the BOSE in the 2002 was a joke. The 991 BOSE is absolutely fine (and I consider myself an audiophile) - especially for a Cab. You have to make a few tweaks to the settings, but it is just a huge improvement over the previous BOSE iteration. I was easily able to play Spotify/iPod and the sound quality is very good.
I shipped the car from Dallas. I was very nervous about how that would go. Like all logistics companies, the communication was horrible and I didn't know when the car would arrive. There was a slight ding in the lower body panel during transport, but the shipping company owned up to it and I will get it fixed.
Next up is wrapping the front, Opt-Coat and an Escort 9500 CI (radar mirror and control in the ashtray that I bought from Suncoast). The inspiration for the 9500 install came from this forum.
This forum was a godsend in helping me purchase a car out of state with options I was not familiar with and couldn't go to a dealer and experience. Thanks to all of you, I got a car I love and will keep for years.

I thought I would be ok with the wait...I'm not and as a result have increased my dependency on this site and searching for YouTube clips supplemented with drives by my dealer...waiting is hard!
