To the best of my knowledge ONLY the Pzeros currently meet the 102Y rating.
Where do you get this stuff?
Those tires are used on the GTR, which is 800lb heavier and faster than a 991.
I never heard of tire problems on the GTR.
Honestly, I dont think you understand what those specifications even mean.
You just think going below a certian # means imminent doom.

These tires are loud though and not the best in standing water, so for those reasons, they may not be the ideal choice for street driving.
Plus, you need at least a 9" front wheel to fit the 265-35-20.

They are a semi-track tire, so track saftey is an area where they should do better than PZero or PSS.

92Y should be suitable for 911, 92 = load rating of 1389kgs, and Y is 186mph.

Two other tires that are great, aside from dropping to W speed rating, are the advan ad08r and the re11s. Also think they're cheaper

RE11 are awesome.
Just as smooth and quiet as PSS.
I have been debating dropping to 19" wheels to run those.
The reat tire size offerings were not ideal though.

Good one. Just to prove how goofy the idea of tires suddenly failing- sorry, catastrophically- (and for Jim M's enlightenment) due to mismatched ratings, consider the full meaning of speed ratings. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=35

Notice the rating involves increasing speed in 6.2 mph (10 kph) increments every 10 minutes to max speed. So to reach say 180 mph the car will have been doing over 150 mph for 50 minutes. Fifty minutes at over 150! (Not to mention an hour and 40 minutes over 120, etc., pick your starting point… try and find the road you can do that on!) Yet somehow if it doesn't have that rating it is prone to explode if you swerve on the freeway.

Right.

I'm going to wait for the MPSS and MPSC2 supplies to become available again...

the GT3 needs some new shoes (Corsa's are due for replacement) so it will get the MPSC2 and the GTS can get some MPSS to replace the PZeros...

Larry, are you going to replace the Pzeros as soon as you get the MPSS or after the Pzeros are worn out?

it all depends; I have a set of Forgeline GT1's on order, IF MPSS were available when the rims show up ... I'd get a set and install... my bet is that they wont
be available, I'll swap the PZeros from the OEM to the GT1s...

Assuming you can get your hands on a set of MPSS some time this year, how would you get rid of the Pzeros since they are relatively new?

My good man, you know nothing about load ratings or tires. What they put on a GTR means nothing, and while weight factors into the rating so does the ultimate handling capability. Porsche specs a 102 tire for a reason, a performance reason. If you want to go below that rating that's your choice. But do a little research before you put your foot in your mouth again. I never said using a lower rated tire would result in eminent doom

P Zeros in 295/30/20 (stock size on 991 C2S) carries a load rating of 101Y. Not 102Y.

Are you saying Load Rating corellates to Ultimate Handling Capability?
I thought a Tire Test was the only way to evaluate Ultimate Handling on a given car.
I'm suprised race teams and auto crossers spend huge money testing tires when they could have just gone by the load rating.

Just to add to the tire discussion and this might be old news but I stopped by the dealer yesterday and they said they will now be able to install the MPSS because it is now a Porsche approved tire.

Wonder if the supply is going directly to the factory to be installed on new cars. hummmmmm.
