Does anyone know if Porsche will introduce a face lifted 991.2 turbo and turbo s at the same time as the regular 991.2s?

TT/TTS has typically lagged about a year after the intro of the rest of the model range. And Porsche will dribble out the new models slowly, as they did with the 991.1. First base and S, then 4 and 4S, then TT, etc. Before you know it we'll be up to 25 variants of the 991.2 as well!

So it appears they're keeping the same ugly rear taillights?

The 997.2 was the high-point for me in Porsche taillight design.

Wow... Not feeling the love! I think this will become the object of desire for new 911 buyers just as the current model was for me. I'll wager it looks great in the flesh and the 'new' appeal will kick in. I agree with specific comments about specific features but for me at least the 911 was about the package... Not just one design feature... And it still looks like a great 911 package. Truth be told I'm not really worried about F.I. either at this stage - will see how it turns out then decide.
Remember not so long ago a string of derisory comments about the GTS when it was unveiled.... and now we all [quite rightly] love it?
I'm holding my vote on the 991.2- sorry to be controversial - ' Nuff said

A lot of great comments and analysis here. I'm impressed guys.

Everything has a stumble at some point.

Porsche's half cycle refreshes are a difficult task for designers. Keep most of the car the same, but change the front/rear bumpers and few other cosmetic changes. Kind of turns into a Frankenstein car sometimes. Make enough changes so they are "changes", but stay true to the 991.1 design. A hard task.

Not a fan of the recent designs featuring sharper creases and squarer shapes in the other models. The lower diffuser on the Cayenne looks like a BMW SUV design.

In this case, they have scored a 6 out of 10 on exterior design. 2 out of 10 on turbo engine choice. Cabin and PCM improvements should be a 9 out of 10.

Haha, that's our usual way to react to a new Porsche model, always.

You sure about that?

how 'bout we agree to disagree !

IMO, this by far is the high point of water cooled era 911 rear end and rear tailight design ...old school and new school all -in -one and with a cohesive sporty sleek design ...not the new 991.2 rear that looks like four different stylists submitted the grill, lights , bumper , lower fascia/ exhaust independently in isolation :

Yikes. Nothing they changed is better and much of it is worse. Long live the 991.1!

If you're going to try to make a point you might want to show the standard tail-lights instead of an optional add most people didn't get.

Not liking the rear grill. Agree with prior comment, front looks cayman-ish with S-SPASM chin stuck under it. Rear vent is part turbo bumper. Part GT3/ cayman/ Boxster centre exhaust. A mish mash of Porsche design cues.

What's with the passenger seat? That looks funny to me. Something strapped on the seat? Looks kind of like LWB.

Other than vertical grill I quite like what I see. What a surprise! 991.1 owners on Rennlist don't like 991.2. Lol. You guys are funny. No pattern here.

There's hasn't been much love on here or 6Speed regarding the new design. I for one, am willing to give credit where it is due. Other than some interior improvements and PCM upgrades, which will be better, I'm not feeling the rest. Number one the engine, and two the exterior styling.

Then here is a suggestion. Wait for the car to be introduced so you can see the actual changes. Next, wait to see one in real life. Three, wait for real reviews when people start to rave about the new car. Or, go back to the old 997 posts where everyone was picking apart the 991.1 BEFORE it was released.

I will have to see if the rear looks higher and more narrow in real life, but in general I like it. I don't mind the turbo either.
