991.2 "undisguised"

It sounds better than stock turbo cars. I was expecting them to sound like the current batch of 991 turbos, vacuum cleaners and all. Perhaps there'll be an optional sport exhaust setup? If not, and that's actually how they'll sound stock, I'm rather pleased with what I'm hearing from that short clip.

So much emotion, just like in the manual vs PDK debate.
The problem this time around is you have to go turbo in the 991.2. Or you pick the .1, or get into the GT cars. Funny enough, Porsche took away the manual in the 991 GT3, and give back the manual in the GT4. You have a choice, just not the choices that you want.
Porsche is such a great manufacturer/ marketer/ manipulator.

Actually, Porsche is in some ways kinder and gentler now in their methods of extracting cash , with most things bundled in packages perhaps because there are more younger buyers , who have the funds but not the time or interest in studying a six page option form on their smartphone screen .
In the 1980s, you could spec $ 20,000 in 50-100 separate leather , stitching , carpeting options on the NORMAL order form .Would be $ 40k today .
Joke used to be you could spec two whole cows worth just in leather options !

We are getting closer to having real cars to compare and discuss. I think either way this new model will set some new direction for Porsche. Whether turbo based engines become more dominant throughout the line up or if they are relegated to the entry level 4 cylinder Boxster types. With real cars the Porsche consumer will have greater ability to communicate with Porsche their real satisfaction or displeasure.
I am one that has confidence that Porsche will listen when it comes to the future of the 911. I also believe they wouldn't go blindly ahead if they didn't think they were going to offer a great car for enthusiasts.

Given how poorly the sports cars are selling for Porsche at the moment, it wouldn't surprise me if they've decided to evolve the 911/Cayman product line to be a bit less enthusiast focused to appeal to a broader market, save for the GT/GTS cars.

Three Wheelin'
I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but spy shots of the facelifted Boxter have surfaced. It appears to be a much cleaner execution of the front redesign and the active aero grille than on the 991.2 imo.

I must say, my first impression is favorable. I'll post the pics.
The front has a certain sleekness to it. Makes it look very low, instead of higher like the 991.2
Not sure if it's me, but kinda like "Ferrari like". Kinda squarish and sleek.

Looks like they were more restrained on the Boxster. Looks only slightly changed. But please tell me that rear shot is with the spoiler deployed and not a redesigned rear. If it's the latter, that's awful.
