I asked my delivery specialist about the "break-in" procedure, and he gave the standard, do t go above 4,500 RPMs. He did follow up to say that the cars are ready to go from onset, so if I broke the rules once or twice (wink, wink), the car would be ok...

My favorite interchange from the trip...

JD. "Steffan, are we going to be stopping for gas soon"

Steffan (tour leader) "gas?? are you serious?? John, you do know that you have gears 4, 5, 6 and 7 to use. You don't have to use 3rd all the time".

It took me a few hours to realize why John would rocket away from me while I was driving a targa GTS. Turned out he was already in the lower gear while I was in 7th in sport plus. Lower gas mileage means you're probably having more fun

Alex,

I did a little searching on the internet. Apparently, Porsche switched to Aisin manual transmissions beginning with the 997 model and the 991 7-speed is also one of theirs. Seems to be a highly regarded Japanese company that partnered with Borg Warner. I'm happy with my 7-speed. Much better than the 6-speed in my 2000 Boxster S. Mark

accursed PDK programming! - it loves 7th, although I'm surprised that it did that in Sport+

Since the 7MT in the 991 is a variant on the PDK, sharing many components in common I guess this means that they likely also produce the PDK too

Thanks, I can tell you no matter where they come from its a very smooth and efficient gearbox. I was just surprised to see "Transmission : JAPAN " and not have heard about the switch whenever it happened. ..

Steffan nearly made me spit coke out of my nose with that one.
And for those asking about the break-in period... if I followed those rules the others would still be waiting for me to get to austria

Anyone else who has a car on the Queen Ace right now notice it's been at the Panama Canal for 6-7 days? Status says "anchored"
Is that normal due to shipping traffic?

I'm on the Dionysos Leader. Just got to the Panama Canal tonight and got in line. I'll let you know if it passes through tomorrow, as scheduled. Looks like a bit of a traffic jamb at anchor.

If I am reading this right the Queen Ace has not paid for a quicker early access booking slot so I think it is due to go through the canal on Oct. 17th and the 7th ship in line for that day. I found this site so let's hope it is accurate.

Date Correction

If I am reading this right the Queen Ace has not paid for a quicker early access booking slot so I think it is due to go through the canal on Oct. 15th and the 7th ship in line for that day. I found this site so let's hope it is accurate.
