recall??
Some of these dealers will make calls for service campaigns, to get you in the shop. Sometimes it leads to other things like oil changes and stuff they might sell you. That's what I'm guessing!
Possibly an overachieving new service advisor?

It's not like you had an AIDs test or something.
That's ridiculous. I'd demand to know or say don't wast my time.

Don't you wish they'd be calling and begging you to come in?
Out on Long Island there, 1 of 10 people they con into stopping in probably leave with a new car they saw on the lot while stopping by

Most manufacturers do not allow dealers to "market" service campaigns. They are not safety related. Technically, a customer needs to make reference to or complain about the issue that the service campaign addresses. If a car is in their service drive, it's easy for them to state that the customer made reference to the issue. It's easy money, as PCNA foots the bill at warranty labor rates.
Recalls are a separate issue - those they are encouraged to call customers and get as many fixed as possible, as recalls are almost always safety related.

when I bought my CPO '12 C2S three weeks ago, the carfax the dealer gave me showed an open recall on the car. The salesman checked with service and it was something that came up after they CPO'd it. It was a software update that they performed in about 20 minutes before I took delivery, but I'm not sure what was updated.
