First Porsche, my story
I never thought I would own a Porsche. They were off the radar to the point I never looked into the details. I just knew if I won the lottery I would own a 911....good branding, right!
In 2005 I bought an Audi A3, wonderful car, versatile and sporty (I don't know why the US doesn't like premium/sporty hatchbacks). I wasn't going to pay over $30k for a car and it came in just under. Now that it's getting older I looked from time to time what I would buy next...nothing looked appealing. Since I'm a homeowner I needed versatility. I've carried many bags of mulch, lumber, plants, going camping...etc with the A3. No sedan for me. I had an SUV...very depressing...so not much to choose from. I was content on keeping the A3 in good shape.
It's funny how things can change so quickly. I often thought the Audi TT as a "poor mans" 911 (not a bad thing) and I happened to see one downtown one day. That was inspiration to start looking. I knew a new model was coming out soon. Looked promising but no MT ...no thanks. It dawned on me that if I keep the A3 there is no limitations on a second car!...other than money As an engineer I make good money but not great money but something like $50k sounds crazy... I then started looking at Porsche for the first time. After much researching, I fell in love with the Cayman. I test drove the base and S models. Trying to keep cost down I test drove a base loaner Cayman....long story short, it had dings on the hood, needed new tires and turned me off on anything but new. So I was set to buy a new Cayman S.
I was on the Planet9 forum where someone found a one owner Cayman, low miles in perfect condition....I was like if I found that one I would have gone for it too. It was highly optioned for lower than I would have paid. This got me back to looking at very lightly used one owner CPO cars. I never even considered a 911. Six figures was out of the question...but I knew that's what I really wanted. I found a 2013 base 911 well optioned 1311 miles for a little more than I was going to pay for the Cayman S. I was skeptical but when I saw it in person there wasn't one blemish. I couldn't tell it from new. The previous owner moved up to a GTS and virtually let mine sit in the garage. I couldn't be happier.

Welcome to RL. What a beautiful 911! It really does look brand new. I love all the white with the black roof and black wheels. Looks nicely optioned too. Joining PCA is a great idea as well, even if you elect not to do much, simply for the discounts and Panorama. But, having said that, it is truly amazing how many great people you will meet.

Congrats!! That is one gorgeous car! I love the black and white contrast.
One thing - I'm a little confused - The car has the tailpipes of an "S" (quad exhaust) but the badging says "911 Carrera" and you described it as a "base." Did the previous owner swap out the exhaust?

Congratulations on the purchase! I had a very similar story to yours when picking up my CPO 991. I always wanted a 911 but it wasn't really on my radar until, all of a sudden, I decided to pursue it. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do.
