Finalizing Build - 2S vs. 4S?
Have a C2S on order that gets locked any day and I'm still debating switching it to a 4S instead. My car's option list is fairly sparse:
Black/Black
7MT
Sport PASM
Sport Techno Wheels
Sport Chrono
Sport Exhaust
PSP
Bose
Sunroof Delete
14 Way Seats
Seat Heat/Ventilation
911 Model Designation
The more I research about the 4S, the more good things I hear. All in, it would add about $8k to my build. Concern is additional complexity and maintenance cost. And slight concern about the wider hips fitting in my garage. What say ye? Worth the extra $? Downsides?
Please don't say GTS; given that a lot of thought and it doesn't work for me for a variety of reasons.

My personal opinion on the 2S vs. 4S:
If you live in a place where there is snow/bad weather all the time and you are going to drive it year long, get the 4S. If not, then save your money and get the 2S and have more fun with a RWD car!

You live in SF??
Obviously not driving year round and in snow living in Minnesota.
You don't need the 4S at all. Stick with the S!
Oh, get the GTS! Ha ha. Kidding!

Motivation wouldn't necessarily be snow, though there's a good chance I'll be living in a wintery clime in a few years. We have two other AWD cars. Reason for the 4 would primarily be for performance reasons, as all the reviews I've read/watched indicate the 4 is actually slightly better performing, particularly in wet weather, etc. Still debating whether I like the bigger hips or not.

Bigger hips are nice. You're talking like a 1/2" per side I think. Going off of memory.
I've read a lot of drivers prefer the purity of the rear drive. Lighter weight, and more "connected" feeling. Not as sterile. Maybe you'll get some other insight as well.

1.75" total width increase. The 4s also has dual brake boost which you will notice too. The wet wx traction is a plus. If $ not an issue, go for the 4s! My $.02

Did you test drive both? If it was me I would go a 4S, steering feels a little better to me and it's a 2+2 car which makes it useful for my wife to also drive with our son. If you don't need 2+2 get a GT3

More fuel capacity with the 4S and get the cool light bar across the wider butt. And yes you can really tell the difference in width standing in front looking down the length of the car.

Honestly, I'm not in love with the look of the car from the front quarter view. The wide rear haunches that look great from the back, look odd to me from the front quarter view.

I'm glad I got the GTS RWD. It has the best of both worlds: RWD and a wide bum. It's a shame you don't like the GTS. Let us know what you end up with!

Similar build on a GTS is $12k more (can't get the 14 ways without ponying up for the leather interior?!) and I don't love any of the GTS wheels, particularly the 5 lug choices. To swap out for the wheels I like would be another $7k less whatever I could get for the 20" Carrera S wheels. Just not worth it to me.
