Default ED in December?

Has anyone done a ED in the month of November or December? Besides needing winter tires, what else should I be aware of?

My friend took delivery in a snowy December. He was able to "rent" snow tires for the two weeks he was there.

A couple of years ago, I did an ED for a buddy's M6 at the very end of October (I believe pick-up in Munich was Oct 30). Snow tires are required in Germany and Austria (I don't know about Switzerland) from Nov 1. We didn't put snow tires on, but headed south to Italy and the French Riviera. That area reduces the risk of bad weather quite a bit. Heavy snowfall in the Alps usually doesn't start until late-December or January. When I lived there many years ago, I remember that ski-able snow was always hit-or-miss for Christmas holidays. I'm sure our European members can elaborate more.

winter tires are required between Oct-Apr ... I believe that the factory will mount those for you.

You probably wont to drive thru the alps around then unless its AWD.

Ok. Thanks. I got my confirmed date for ED in Leipzig; November 2nd! Does anyone have any suggestions for ED in November.? The Ring is closed, so that's not a possibility. I am planning on going for about 10 days.

Default ED in December?

I'd head south. In 10 days you could do Venice, Sienna and back up thru Milan and Geneva for a Stuttgart drop off. I'm sure there'll be a lot of thoughts from others.

Thanks. I have done lot of Italy and France. My family is from Italy, so I am trying to stay in Germany or maybe holland, Denmark, Czech Republic, etc.

But heading South may be nicer...

Stuttgart is the planned drop off location.

November - the further south you go the better IMO

It looks like south is the recommended path. Perhaps Italy is calling again...

The problem with going north (Holland, Belgium, Normandy) that time of year is that it can be cold and damp. Very raw and not very pleasant. They don't get much snow up there, but the weather's not terrific either.
