Default TTS - I knew they were quick…but not that quick!

I knew they were quick from helplessly watching them blast by me on the track at Leipzig where their lap times were many seconds faster….but wow, not as quick as this video demonstrates…..faster than a 458 Speciale, faster than a Maclaren, faster than a GTR….

It's a great video for all you TTS owners out there:

I'll only point out that their fastest lap was the first one. While very fast in the straights, the turbos don't hold up performance wise over time on the track because of heat issues. It's a great daily though.

I'll only point out that while the video is all about performance on the track, where the Turbo S really shines above all others is out on the road. As impressive as it is being faster than the Ferrari, et al, to me what's even more impressive is it does this while delivering a level of comfort that verges on luxury. If it has one fault its probably that it makes going insanely fast almost too easy.

Very fast... hate the muffled sound though. If the 991.2 sounds like that, I am done with the 911.

I had a friend who had a 993 TT back when that was the newest fastest thing. Going from just about any other car of the day into that Turbo was just mind-blowing. But I'll never forget having to listen to this guy driving one of the world's most awesome cars whining about how it sounds. Oh well.

Completely agree. I can be in 6th going 75 mph and overtake three consecutive cars on a two lane without so much as a downshift. Did it the other day and I was going 150 when I merged back into my lane. The torque is simply astonishing and the car will run away from you in any gear, at any rpm if you're not paying careful attention to your throttle position. You don't look down at the speedo and say "whoops, I'm speeding a bit." You look down and say "****, I'm going to get arrested!" You have to completely recalibrate your right foot!

I hated the sound too. Waaaay too tame for a car this fast. I got a full length Kline Innovation exhaust with 100 cell cats and it's just perfect now. I uncorked it in a tunnel with the windows down and my wife started clapping. That's a win in my book.

I'd like to hear how one of these sounds with a really good exhaust!

I can only imagine how the 991 TT goes, myself coming from a 997.2 TT. It was insanely fast and comfortable at the same time. Now with a 991 C4S, but do I miss the turbo....

It seems like they could offer a different exhaust for the TTS, another option, more money for Porsche.

Quick Reply: TTS - I knew they were quick…but not that quick!
