The manual says stay below 4200 RPM for the first 2,000 miles

Not "the" manual, your manual. The poster above, madmac, is in South Africa.

Porsche tells Americans to baby it, while telling everyone else to let 'er rip. See for example balaclava's ED post https://rennlist.com/forums/991/8250...ery-diary.html where he asked about this and was told “for American customers, we must recommend you to keep it below 4200rpm, for everyone else we suggest use it as you normally would: careful while cold, then flat out.”

In South Africa, the car manual makes no reference to limiting rpm for the first 2000 miles. This seems to be an American phenomenon.
