991 Porsche Sport Exhaust
I have a 2012 991 3.4L Carrera. Am thinking about getting the PSE on the car and asking you all about the advantages and disadvantages of this.
Thanks

I also have a C2, and thinking about installing PSE.
I have heard that the PSE it is really a big upgrade on the S, while the base sounds pretty good as is (which I agree on) and installing PSE is not really recommended...any input on this?

Burning Brakes
Only not recommended by those who do not want a great experience while driving. I have a C2 and had the PSE installed by the dealer. It's the first button pushed after I start it up.

Sport and PSE always off at start up. Price should be more like $4K (ouch) or a bit less if dealer installed, which I had done on our C2s for about $3,800 include tax. Agree on all of LexVan's points. AFAIK C2 and C2s have same base exhaust. Have no experience with 3.4 vs 3.8 engine sound but don't know of any recommendations against PSE except from some folks who prefer 3rd party exhausts for various reasons. I absolutely love what the noise adds to the experience.

You can't go wrong with PSE. But, if you put PSE on 3.4L, prepare to stuff the opening hole with audio insulating foam or else experience a head-busting drone sound inside the cabin. Once the foam is in, the drone goes away. The sound becomes much deeper and better (though nowhere near as good as an old school gas guzzling V8).

I know I'm the minority, but I drive with PSE OFF.
It sounds perfect that way.
Valves still open up automatically, at high rpm, which does sound great.
I just hate how drony it sounds with valves open at low RPM.
When I want to hear some great sounds, I just rev it out.
There is no substitute for that.
For the question about Stereo getting drowned out, plug the symposer.
The exhaust is not that loud (compared to Symposer and Tire Noise).

I find the car really quiet with PSE off. Is a car with PSE off the same as a car without PSE? Also agree that it drones like crazy with it on. I turn it off on the highway for this reason... still wish I could make it louder at other times
I think if you turn the radio off by holding the power button it should remain off... pressing will only mute it.
