Default Holli82's New GTS and Observations

Finally took delivery if my new GTS. My old (2011) GTS went to another Rennlister so I know it's in good hands. I've been driving my 13 year-old Honda beater for the last 2 months so I am extremely happy as this will be my DD.

My configuration:

911 Carrera GTS
White
Leather Interior in Black/Garnet Red
Premium Package Plus i.c.w. Adaptive Sport Seats Plus (18-way)
Burmester® Audio Package
Leather Interior in Black/Garnet Red
Deletion of Model Designation
ParkAssist (Front and Rear) with Reversing Camera
Electric Slide/Tilt Sunroof in Glass
SportDesign Package
PASM Sport Suspension
Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)
20" 911 Turbo S Wheels
Luggage Net in Passenger Footwell
Smoking Package
Deletion of Alcantara®
Adaptive Sport Seats Plus (18-way) with Memory Package
SportDesign Steering Wheel
Porsche Crest on Headrests

I initially ordered the manual transmission but changed my mind after an extended test drive of a manual (Carrera S) at my dealer. Nothing wrong with the manual, I just liked the PDK more. This is my daily driver so the PDK will make life a little easier as well.

I seriously considered a turbo but after driving one, I chose the
GTS. The turbo was lights-out faster with tremendous low-end torque. The GTS NA linear delivery is my preference but I get the reasons why others will choose a turbo. The turbo also felt heavier and lacking the exhaust note of the GTS. The steering in the turbo felt lighter to me as well.

Early Observations
I have less than 50 miles on the car so take these early observations with that fact in mind:

--The 991 is bigger but feels lighter than my 997.
--I liked the seating position of my 997 better. Because the dash was smaller, I was closer to the windshield and had better visualization of the fenders.
--991 feels more stable when cornering and less upset by road imperfections. I like these characteristics but this may be part of reason that people prefer the 997's "raw" feedback.
--I can't tell any difference in steering input and feedback with the electric power steering assist.
--I had concerns about the look of the all-black wheels but they look much better in person and fit the car perfectly. ( I have the centerlocks)
--The red leather interior looks better in person as well. I do feel that black/red combo is the way to go. I think all red interior would be overwhelming.
--The red stitching included in the black/garnet interior looks great.
--The PDK is much better in the 991 is much better than my 997 and I really enjoyed it in my 997
--The exhaust note is much better in the 991. It even sounds great without the sport exhaust engaged.
--I can't comment on the Burmester yet. I am an audiophile so I didn't mind paying the upcharge. I know it's a car and I'll probably never hear the difference when the engine is on. The extra 3K for the Burmester over the Bose is equivalent to a set of interconnects or speaker wires for those neurotic enough (like me) to still listen to 2 channel stereo systems at home.

Finally I want to give a shout-out to my dealer (Gaudin) and salesman (David Soyk). The entire buying experience was excellent. No surprises. Two months from placing the order to delivery.

Damn, that's a nice looking car.

If it had a manual transmission, no glass sunroof, and 5-lug wheels, I would have already PM'd you, asking to be put at the top of your "potential buyers" list when you are ready to sell her.

Love the car. Yours looks like the white version of mine (GT Silver), including the ducktail, CLs, black/red, and PDK. Only real difference is I got Bose (sounds great to my ear, so I didn't even listen to the Burmester) and SPASM and 14 way seats. It should be hitting Brunswick this week.

Thanks for all the pics. I too went in thinking to buy another Turbo, and got seduced by the GTS. For all the exact reasons you state.
