Maybe a 'Ring' edition GTS, followed by a 'Weissach' GTS then maybe the truly last GTS RS. LOL.
Where's the manipulation?

I don't think Porsche could care one way or another. They're just worried about year over year sales. I haven't heard them say anything about a "truly last guise". They're embracing the turbo engines. The only people wanting the last of the NA's are the enthusiasts.

When the turbo's come out they'll be pumping those up just like anything else new.

All companies have cars revealed in spy shots and caught on the road. You think there's a conspiracy?

No conspiracy. Porsche isn't the most profitable company by chance. They know how to keep the pump primed with hype, a million variations, 'Porsche Exclusive' and endless special editions. They are brilliant at what they do.

Now are any of these special editions one bit more satisfying to own? Probably not after the honeymoon is over.

I would bet any 50th., Targa, or GTS owners are still happy.

What is wrong with those variations?

What they do is makes different variations and customize cars specifically to customers who want that individuality. No different than other luxury goods companies.

Want cookie cutter? I could name a lot of them. Want boring? Get a BMW or Lexus.

They're profitable because people buy the cars they sell for the price they charge. People have choices, and if Porsche doesn't do it for them they can buy something else.

Not happy with your C4S? You have a choice too.

Eduardo,
Thank you for the great information. That's more time to get the NA engine I'd hope. That being said if the .2 MY17 begins production in November 2015, that is not that much time to get it at least if you want it custom ordered even though it's a 2016.

If there is .2 991 production that starts in November of 2015, it will be for the Europe market and not the US. As you know, in Europe they don't go by the same MY nomenclature as we do here. For registration purposes in Europe, if a car is built & delivered in 2015, I believe it will be registered as a 2015 but with an F (MY 2015) G (MY 2016) or H (Model Year 2017) manufacturer's designation in the VIN # sequence to clarify it's status. For example, the recently released .1 991 gt3 RS is listed in this confidential memo simply as a MY G and not as a MY2016:

So if any of you wants to order a MY2016 .1 991 (MY G), you still have a bit of time left. Plus PTS has been allowed for MY2016 in the 991 for sure and possibly the 981 too starting with June 2015 production. So go & get it!

Saludos,
Eduardo

Thanks Eduardo!

Sounds like now is the time to order one of the last PTS naturally aspirated street 911s

Yes, just as I reported back on March 15th when my sales rep told me 991.2 will be announced at Franfurt with order books immediately open for deliveries beginning February 2016 in Europe. Order books open for 4S in January 2016 for deliveries beginning in May.

Eduardo, thank you for the information. I'm among those who want to get an order in before the turbo motors arrive. I'm also a big fan of the current sport steering wheel option. Do you know if the Macan steering wheel will replace the current sport wheel or will it be an additional option?

I think the current GTS will be produced untill latest september 2015, because then the 991.2 will be presented on the IAA in Frankfurt.

Placed an order for a 2016 991.1 C2S and will be built on September and ED on October. There will only be a tight window for a 2016 991.1 gen. That was the info I got from my dealer. If I wait next year, I will get the 991.2 gen. You can still order a 2015 991.1 today.

I did not mean that 50th, Targa, or GTS owners are unhappy with their cars. I am saying the incremental 'specialness' fades away quickly and you are left with the same car...a great car at that. Porsche is excellent at marketing 'specialness' and it produces more frequent and higher margin sales.

Just an observation, no complaints here. This dynamic also produces lots of super low mileage used cars traded in by those who need a new mistress. Great for cheapskates like me.
