Complimentary Technology Update
I received an email invitation from Porsche for a complimentary technology update for my 2014 C4S Cab. The email doesn't give any information on what the updates are, just asking me to make an appointment with a dealer for this free update.
Anyone know what the update(s) are?

Was the mail actually from Porsche, or from your dealer? Many times dealers will send stuff like this out just to get you to come in to the service department so they can try and sell you some services.

The email came from Porsche North America. I called my dealer and the SA said there is a minor "gate control" fix - whatever that is. He said it can certainly wait until my annual service in September.

This is an interesting topic for me due to experiences with my 2011 M3. This vehicle has undergone several software updates, a critical one impacting the DCT transmission. This update made shifting smoother without the "bucking" phenomenon typical to the DCT transmission models of this vehicle. More recently though, I had the software (perhaps firmware?) updated by a third party vendor, Mike Benvo. This individual has hacked his way into the BMW software and performs a remote coding service which is nothing short of spectacular in that it has made even bigger improvements to the DCT parameters.
I would not be surprised if PCNA does have a software update for our vehicles, but perhaps the messaging between PCNA and the dealer network has not been exemplary, or perhaps some dealers simply want to avoid the work. I know with BMW you had to report the "bucking" problem with the DCT transmission before they would perform an update, even though BMW NA published a bulletin on the problem with the associated remedy directly to dealers.
