Anyone looking forward to 991.2, or planning to wait before buying a 2015?

And specifically, I was wondering if anyone has postponed a purchase because they wanted the new one, seeing as how I did just the opposite.
None of that has been beat to death, or even mentioned once, for that matter. The first respondent got it and answered accordingly, that he is pumped about the turbo era. All the rest is just people arguing over physics.

To answer the question directly, yes I am looking forward to it and have already told my AD that I will place an order as soon as order books open because it will be faster, handle better, have newer technology....and my bet is that a lot of you will too......because since when has a new model 911 not been better and faster than the one it replaced.

Well, people have sort of morphed my thread into a same-ole-same-ole, but if you re-read the original post, I was just wondering if anyone was looking forward to the turbos,....

So I'm waiting to see the specs and the road tests for on the 991.2S. If it is not significant better that a GTS, I will likely hold onto my 991C2S until I find a GT3 I want.

I just bought a 2015 991S..I am confident that Porsche will figure this out..Its fair to say they are about the best in the business so they will be ok..and the great thing is that there are enough 997s and 991s out there so you can always get what you want!!!

And yet the smart money/rumors has the FI Carrera S at 420-430 or so hp. Porsche has a long history of keeping the power figures in line with current/past generations and I don't see the 911 as being any different... it's not as if the power numbers on the Panamera/Cayenne went through the roof with the introduction of turbos and the 911 won't be any different.

I am NOT looking forward to them and am happy as can be where I'm at with my 991 C2S NA engine.
Only thing I'd look forward to is a NA GT3 in the future if I traded up.

I never postpone a purchase on rumor and speculation. If it is as nice as you think, I'd probably buy one after the first rush of buyers get their car.
BTW, Hey neighbor.

As nice as I think? I specifically rushed to order a '15 now rather than my original plan to get a '16 because I don't think the turbos will be as nice (for me.)
Funny thing is, I have a Turbo now, went into the store thinking I'd replace with a 991TT (not TTS). In the process I got a chance to spend some quality time in a '15 C2S with all the performance boxes checked. First time in a 991, first time in a PDK. I realized how much I'd been missing all the rev-happy character of the Porsche NA motors. Love the big thrust of the Turbos, and they're damn fine handling cars too in the mountains, but they're quite a bit different than the C2S.
So I said "I could be very, very happy with a C2GTS PDK. Very happy. I'll order one in the fall when business slows down and I get a little more time to become enslaved to the Configurator God.
But then news hit of the new turbos, and I realized, Geez, Turbos or turbos I can get anytime in the future, but ordering a new NA Carrera looks like that's pretty much over with.
So there's my tortured path to the GTS. You don't remember asking, do you.

NOT excited about across the line turbos
The current 991 Carrera S is perfection in my book. I will take delivery in Europe BUT my schedule will not allow a trip until 2016 so it looks like I am "doomed" to the new 991.2 model. I DO hope that Porsche will give us the option of a NA engine OR turbo engine at least in the first few years of the 2016 model.

Anything IS possible,.....but going on recent history we will probably see something like....
425HP/350~380TQ from a 3.0L (or even below) turbo 6.
Normally Porsche does not usurp the previous generation GTS with a higher HP CS the first release, but the latest competition and turbos might throw this out of wack somewhat. Remember this is not something Porsche wanted to do, but is having to deal with. On the optimistic side we might see 450HP if lucky,....as Porsche may try and throw a bone to the many that are grumbling already. I don't think we will see anything above that as it will start encroaching too much on the GT3 & normal Turbos.
Who is really going to buy a 520HP Turbo at a 40% increase in price with a 480+ HP CS on it's tail? I think the normal Turbos will move higher up, but still don't think we will see a CS approaching them anytime soon,.....maybe the next gen three or 4 years down the road.
It will be interesting for sure. I'd much rather see a NA 3.8L/4.0L 450HP/360TQ in the 911's future, but that sure isn't going to happen.

To the original question of putting off a purchase... I did the opposite. I rushed to get my order in for the 991.1. It's due in about a month.

Hi NaGaBiker;
I agree there will be performance improvement in the new turbo. But at what cost?
I am getting out of a 2013 M3. BMW improved acceleration and handling in the M4 but also robbed some of the soul out of the driving experience. I am an audio guy and am not a fan of piped in computer generated exhaust sound.
Based on my C4S test drive of the NA engine and what I call the "symphony of sounds" that a car makes, I am opting for the 2015.
There will always be a chance to move to a newer version later after I have a chance to assess what the changes really mean. Maybe some time for Porsche to tweak it too??
From reading the threads on here it appears a new C4S might not fit my timeline either with orders reportedly starting in January for May,2016, delivery. if this information is true my decision is an easy one.
My C4S build locked 11 days ago and should be in my hands by the end of May! Hope I don't get a case of "turbo envy!"

My current 2013 991 C2S lease is up in June. I am on the fence as to waiting for the 2016 or ordering a 15 GTS now. The car I will be turning in has 7900 miles, 7MT, PSE, SPASM, full leather, Burm, and that great NA sound and power delivery. Hopefully enough info about the 2016s is available by June or I may be extending my lease by a few months. PFS says I can do 3 months or 6 months extension at the same rate.
I do like the new Lava Orange color and I think the 918 style wheel and tailights will be improvements.
