Where does the 991 GTS get extra power from?
Hi guys, I was just wondering this question what the brains at Porsche did to extract 30 extra HP in the GTS over the 991S. Upgraded intakes? X51 power package? Thanks

X51. As for what that means or does, it's a pretty extensive, albeit subtle, list of things. Ought to be for over 15 large. Rather than list them, I'll point you to just about any of the (non-bloggers) reviews -- seems like all of them recount the process used to get the extra hp.
Cheers!

I believe it always comes w PSE too though no power gains from it.

wishful thinking or simply lying because they believe Porsche owners are stupid enough to buy anything? just wait till they start advertising that by removing the rear badge S and putting on the $35 GTS badge you get at least 5hp.

Yes there are a lot of gullable people. Anyone knows you need sport exhaust tips too.

I didn't quite understand how the powerkit added the horsepower. In doing some research I came across a Porsche Engineering magazine that explained it.
See page 28 in the attached linked file.

There's a lot of talk about the trickery with respect to the intake runners, essentially fooling them into being short-and-sweet at high revs, and also being long and torquey at low revs. Also, extrude-honing the intake valve passages like any good hot-rodder/NASCAR builder. Reprogramming for 7800 rpm, although there seems to be a bit of mystery surrounding that, as the tach doesn't register any differently than a 991 S tach. I don't know if anyone has come on here with car in hand and confirmed it will bang the limiter at 7800, while an S bangs it at 7400, as claimed. I'd be interested to know the truth of that one, since the tach faces are the same...
