Where does the 991 GTS get extra power from?

ALL of the magazine reviews have had it: Excellence, Panorama, R&T, etc.
There's a lot of talk about the trickery with respect to the intake runners, essentially fooling them into being short-and-sweet at high revs, and also being long and torquey at low revs. Also, extrude-honing the intake valve passages like any good hot-rodder/NASCAR builder. Reprogramming for 7800 rpm, although there seems to be a bit of mystery surrounding that, as the tach doesn't register any differently than a 991 S tach. I don't know if anyone has come on here with car in hand and confirmed it will bang the limiter at 7800, while an S bangs it at 7400, as claimed. I'd be interested to know the truth of that one, since the tach faces are the same...

Great to hear! They're not handing out rides at my dealer, even to repeat buyers, and I didn't want to push, since I got all my real questions answered by extensive driving of an S with Sport Chrono Plus, PDCC, PASM Sport, and PSE. I figured the GTS can only be equal or better in every way, so I didn't beg for a ride. Plus, I wasn't going to actually get anywhere near redline on a car with 3 miles on it, which is all they have in my neck of the woods.

The GTS I had last week had over 4500 miles on the clock... It was well "run in".. and oh how different it was from when I had the same car with 750 miles on it..
The engine is amazing.. It pulls and pulls... It just keeps going.
The exhaust sound is so much better than 991s. No drone at lower rev at all and then a bark and a roar and you are off...
It may only be 24hp extra but woah I miss it now I have my 991s back.
PTS GTS on order.

Pretty standard fare when you are monkeying around with highly tuned small normally aspirated motors; it's an act of God to get anymore HP out of them, and often that comes at the expense of torque; Porsche is doing well to keep it the same.
By contrast, my ancient 2002 911 Turbo makes 450/467. But that's a Turbo. Torque monsters. You're wife's SHO is a twin turbo 3.6. Just like my 13 YO twin turbo 3.6. How come it only makes 365/350?

I kid obviously but as a long time Porsche owner I'd assume the numbers game isn't a major factor for you?

I wonder if the difference in exhaust note is due to PSE redesign for GTS, or simply a side-effect of the X51 intake system changes passed thru to the
exhaust system?
PTS huh ... didn't know that was available now, what colour did you choose and when is your production?
enjoy!
