Default 991 GTS winter wheel/tire selection

In two weeks my GTS4 will be here. Since it is my DD car from day 1, I need winter tires. Usually I order all my tires from tire rack, but the GTS is not among the selectable option on their site. I think the turbo s wheels are basically the same so I selected those, however I could not confirm the offset so I am a little bit reluctant to release my order.
Do you guys know any difference between the GTS and the turbo S wheels?
Any possibility to go with the old RS wheels? They are 19".
Thanks

I think we established in earlier threads that the front offsets were the same; I have a nagging doubt about the rears for some reason.

According to the UK confgurator the specs for the GTS are:

Turbo S: Front: 9 J x 20 ET 51 with 245/35 ZR 20 tyres, Rear: 11.5 J x 20 ET 56 with 305/30 ZR 20 tyres

Carrera S: Front: 8,5 J x 20 ET 51 with 245/35 ZR 20 tyres Rear: 11 J x 20 ET 52 with 305/30 ZR 20 tyres

I dont think anyone has looked at the .2 RS CLs yet...

The rears are not the same.

As you said, the front offsets are same at 51. However, at the rear, the Turbo S has an ET of 56, and the GTS has an ET of 48.

Took a while to crack that code . . .

I tried to look into some CL winter wheel options a bit but didn't really figure anything out. Was not able to receive any confirmation that the 997 GTS wheels will work either... I'm sure someone will eventually figure it out though.

Since my car came in early I put Michelin PA4s onto the stock GTS CL wheels and am very happy with the setup so far. Slightly longer term plan is to get a dedicated set of summer wheels but maybe next year.

Now that we have some cars delivered - certainly with CL's, maybe some with 5-lug (one a Sonnen), could some one pull the rears and look at the off-set stamped on the back of the rim? This would certainly put the question to bed!

I run 19's on my 991 and I'd check Suncoast right now as they have a killer sale going on remaining winters!!!

Yep great deal for sure, too bad it doesn't help the guys running center lock wheels.

The idea of Suncoast special winter wheels bring up a good question, what's the cost of converting (for the winter) from Center Lock to 5 Lug? If the wheels are right, in both fitment and price, maybe this is a good option

This is an option I thankfully don't have to worry about. Best of luck in the frozen wasteland of the North!

Hello Vise.

I am currently in a similar situation as you were last year.
I wanted to know what size Michelin winter wheels you put on your GTS.
Does the 295 fit fine on the rear, even thought the summer stock is 305?

TIA

I have Michelin PA4's in the following sizes... they work perfectly on my stock GTS centerlock wheels.

F: 245/35/20
R: 295/30/20

What would the benefit be of putting this size on the rears?

The benefit is that is the only size Michelin PA4 available that would fit on the rear of a 991.

Thank You. I got a follow up confirmation from TireRack as follows:

"Good to hear from you! The 2016 GTS Centerlock has OEM sizes of 245/35-20 and 305/30-20, however Porsche approved the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 tires you ordered in January of 2015 as the OEM-approved winter tires and sizes. So, your 245/35-20 and 295/30-20 winter tires will work on the new GTS!"
